spironolactone

I was prescribed this in the past many years ago because of PCOS so I hit up my doc to get it again for some stubborn dark hairs and he obliged with the request that I test kidney function after 2 weeks on the meds.

Should I do the labs while on cycle? 15mg of var a day may be high enough to conjure whacky readings. Anyone else have experience/advice with doctor ordered labs while cycling?

Hmmm that is tricky.
Even though they prob won't do a hormone panel, the could perhaps check your liver enzymes which may be elevated from anavar as it is mildly toxic to the liver.
Do you know exactly which blood test he ordered?
There's different panels.

On the bright side, if they check your liver at least you'll know how it's doingo_O

Also, is it a blood test? They could also just do an urine test to check kidneys.

Ps: make sure you don't have a high intake of potassium while on spironolactone. I'm sure your doc already gave you heads up since you've taken it before.
Did it help with hirsutism?
I wonder if being on those meds will slow down your gains while being on var. I've read so many conflicting things about it.

I was a flakey college student when I took it so I didn't take it long enough to see results. My dad just offered to pay for Lazer which I did, but that was back in 05 and it didn't work well.

I think kidney tests are urine labs so no bloods to be taken.

And yes, it conflicts me to take an anti-androgen on cycle. I may start it after I finish. Having pcos makes me androgenic to begin with...I'm flip flopping on it but glad I can get it through a legit way when I need it. I want to get the most out of this cycle.

go for it... it will show you other levels as well IF they test them BUT most likely with spirolactone they only test your potassium and sodium levels... 99% of the time... I don't think you have anything to worry about.

1) I think kidney tests are urine labs so no bloods to be taken.

And yes, it conflicts me to take an anti-androgen on cycle.

-1) serum electrolytes, rather than urine, are typically assayed for those on diuretics including Spironolactone

-2) This meds MOA as a diuretic and anti-androgen is mediated thru its ability to bind the renal mineralcorticoid receptor and peripheral androgen receptors respectively.

However it's anti-androgenic effect is deemed incomplete (AKA competitive antagonism) bc whether Spiro behaves as a partial agonist or an antagonist at the AR is dependent upon the serum concentration of androgens.

The net effect being; at lower androgen levels Aldactone is an partial androgen AGONIST while at higher levels it becomes a pure ANTAGONIST.

What does all this mean IDK for sure.
However, although it may limit the development of hirsutism as an AAS adverse effect in gals, it COULD also result in diminished SKM gains.

(I'm still searching for more evidence based info on its degree of TISSUE selectivity with respect to its AR binding affinity)

Good question HC

Thank you! I'm on 25mg ED in hopes that I can reduce my PCOS symptoms and so far all is well.
