Im still getting used to it.

On wed. Im sore from monday. And on Friday Im sore from Wed.

Its crazy.

Im up to 315 now. Going almost all the way down.

IMO, you should drop the weight and only lift as much as you can going all the way down. Eventually, you'll be able to full squat 315.

Do you find Wednesday's squats to be the hardest? I do. They're the lightest, but the hardest of the week for some reason.

I can do the full squat. but today on my 4th and 5th set I couldnt go all the way down or else I would have gotten stuck. But on Monday I could.

So you dont use the same weight all 3 days? You think I should do this?

AnimalMass' Favorite Routines....

The 5X5:

Monday:

Olympic Squats 5x5 (same weight)
Benching 5x5 (flat, close grip or regular)(same weight)
JS Rows 5x5 (same weight)
Accessory (low volume triceps and abs)

Wednesday:

Olympic Squats 5x5 (reduced 15-20% from Monday) or Front Squats 5x5
Standing Military Press 5x5 (same weight)
Deadlifts 5x5 (same weight) (if you pull 2.5x bodyweight do 3x5)
Pull ups 5x5 (use weight if you need it)
Accessory (biceps and abs)

Friday:

Olympic Squats 5x5 (working up each set)
Benching 5x5 (flat or incline)(same weight)
Rows 5x5 (same weight)
Accessory (low volume triceps and abs)

Does that answer your question?

Look what you posted. It isn't the same weight/scheme all three days.

Haven't there been several posts stating not to squat three times a week when using the 5 x 5?? I've been using the 5 x 5 for a couple weeks and I eliminate the squats on Wednesdays. I can't see how anyone could fully recover when squatting three times in a week.

Thanks for pointing that out Beefster. My mistake, it was when backing down to the 3x3 that Animal suggested dropping the squats to twice per week. Dammit!!!

I've been doing the 5x5 for only two weeks, it's a rough workout, I'm liking it. The thing that I have been most humbled by is the standing military presses.:(

No shit! I don't know what it is, but standing as opposed to sitting really makes it harder. I look like a little girl with my 10's on each side. (I don't really use 10's, but close enough. ;) )

Why do you have such a hard time following directions? You know, there is a reason that the squat loading is structured like it is.

I like how he posts the routine to answer someones question. But he isn't even following the routine.

Ya i'm with Grizz, those military press is hard. you want to try something that makes you look even more like a 12 year old girl try Cuban Press. :D You come off the squat rack or bench using the big plates to no plates people sure do like to look at you funny...

Honestly I do not see a benefit of doing squats 3 times a week.

I think some Periodisation would be a better option here.

It is periodized. It has been and IS consistently successful for world class athletes, including Olympic weightlifters (the ones who are actually in the olympics), cream of the crop football players, and it's worked well for me and I'm a professional strongman.

Then you're not looking very hard. ;)
In my 28 years at the gym, I have only known one person that did squats 3 times a week and that person was me.

After not being satisifed with my strength gains I dropped them to only once a week and got stronger.
Unless someone shows me the light I see this as overtraining and time waisted in the gym.

I have never ever seen anyone squat 3 times a week in any of the gyms I have been in.

How is that for looking hard?

I am a bodybuilder/weight lifter and I dont like the look of olympic athletes, sure they are stong in their one lift but I am not impressed with their bodies.
Bet they got alot of injuries form muscle imballance too.
