sterilizing bottle top dispenser

just wondering the procedure of sterilizing bottle top dispensers
has rubber tube so cant heat too much or it will melt

I know most are gonna choke in and say to get an autoclave or pressure cooker.

I’d be curious too, though, to know if anyone has a dry heat sterilization way to sterilize, much like using the oven to sterilize glassware

the only thing i can think is 'sterodent'
i use it to sterilize bottles when id move pharma from thailand back to home in plaastic bottles.. id clean out bottle and use sterodent and then use a hairdryer to dry it out while making sure it didnt melt the bottle ,, would be much harder tho with a bottle top dispenser as the rubber tubing is hidden at some points

would really love to know what the ugls do ?
i presume they just flush it out with oil and not even worry if theres moisture left inside haha ?

@whoremoan1 as crazy as it sounds, the BTF doesn't need to be sterilized. At least when you're taking it from the sealed bag straight to the Media bottle. If you rolled it around in dirt first, it'd obviously be a different case.

I had to look twice myself but he is referring to sterilizing a bottle top dispenser rather than a bottle top filter

Hey guys this is how I sterelise my bottle top DISPENSER. Fill up media bottle with distilled water, flush, flush, flush till 400-500ml of water has been through it. Fill media bottle with isopropyl alcohol about 200-300ml, flush, flush, flush. Repeat again with more distilled water and flush shit out of it then put in a isopropyl cleaned container. The day before I use it I will then Use my UV sterilising lamp for about 15 min and then use it, but I will flush some filtered brew through it just incase there’s still water inside (it’s a sacrifice you have to make but 10ml is nothing when you are brewing 500ml-1L. And that is my method. I would run through my autoclave but I am worried about damaging it so I use this process instead

You should absolutely sterilize your bottle top dispensers. It's a mandatory part of the brewing process if you want sterile products.

Most bottle top dispensers are rated to withstand 250 Degrees. You should be flushing the dispenser, disassembling it, cleaning it, then sterilizing it while still disassembled. Usually you will want to recalibrate after this process is complete. This is just a rough guide, usually the manufacturer will include a guide on how to clean your specific dispenser.

But the rubber would melt for sure at 250 degrees ? I’m talking about the dispenser that puts oil from media bottle into vials , it’s all plastic and rubber and would melt in any heat ??

Yes, I use them on a very regular basis. They are almost all rated for 250 degrees to survive an autoclave. I will tell you that you certainly get what you pay for in regard to bottle top dispensers. Although if you are not sourcing you probably don't need ones that cost $800.

Time under heat matters too, you will want to follow the manufacturers guideline there as well.
I use lab grade dispensers so your results may vary, but bottle top dispensers are designed to be sterilized. Hopefully you disassemble them when you clean them as well.

You will need an autoclave. Tattoo places usually have them, so if you know a tattoo artist they can do it for you.
