Steroids, Not PCP, Blamed for Gold’s Gym Rampage

Steroid News

News bot on steroids
The Albany Times-Union reported that anabolic steroids were found in the system of a bodybuilder who went a bizarre and violent rampage at the Gold’s Gym in Latham. The bodybuilder went into cardiac arrest and died after police tasered him repeatedly. The Times-Union conveniently forgot to mention that PCP was also present at the time of death. Cecilia Logue, a spokesperson for the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, cited the cause of death as “agitated delirium”. This condition can be caused by the use of steroids according Logue.

Yeah, those PCP heads are so stable, lol. Heck, a 'regular joe' on PCP can take on 5 or 6 dudes, from all the anecdotal stories I've heard. Slap PCP into a pretty strong guy and you've got to have an issue on your hands.

Steroids enable you to take on 5-6 dudes as well, anecdotally. I try to maintain some kind of bias while interpreting these matters. A PCP user would argue that steroids make you crazy and that PCP makes them calm. We have two sides saying the opposing is wrong when in fact both sides may be wrong. The person in question probably had some mental issues and that was the root of the disturbing behavior. PCP and steroids probably served as a catalyst.

Most recreational drugs tend to be demonized with overstated and exaggerated side effects. We are very familiar with how this happens with anabolic steroids. This no doubt happens with other drugs as well.

Roid rage isn't rampant among steroid users contrary to what the media would like us to believe. Maybe PCP users don't regularly develop delusional feelings of invulnerability and act out in bizarrely violent ways.

But I think the psychological effects of AAS are categorically different than most drugs on the Controlled Substances list. They have often been called the "bastard child" of the CS list for good reason.

The article just shows how badly steroids have been demonized. There was a time when the media and everyone else would automatically point the finger at PCP.

Now everyone is quick to blame steroids first.
