For it or against it?

I was reading a study where mice where given the option of cocaine, or saccharine (an artificial sweetener) .... And they chose the saccharine! Blew my mind

But the main reason I posted this is do the LOVE HANDLES and mid section notice these artificial sweeteners? I know the say NO but do any of you notice?

Metabolic syndrome

Various studies have reported greater risk of metabolic syndrome for consumers of diet soft drinks. Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions — increased blood pressure, a high blood sugar level, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol levels — that occur together, and increase your risk of stroke, heart disease, and other diseases. Recent studies suggest that those who drink artificially-sweetened beverages may have doublethe risk of metabolic syndrome, compared with non-consumers. In studies that compared the risk of metabolic syndrome in people who drank either sugar-sweetened or artificially-sweetened beverages, the magnitude of the increased risk was frequently similar for both regular and diet beverage consumers

I try to drink plain as much as I can. But every once in a while I'll throw some mio energy in my jug. Doesn't seem to affect me much. Everyone's different though.

Most of these are observational studies. Meaning they notice particular patterns but they cannot show cause and effect. Think hard and you might figure out why there's a greater risk of metabolic syndrome with diet soft drink drinkers....

And the answer is, bc metabolic syndrome goes hand in hand with things like obesity, diabetes, etc etc. what kind of drinks do you see many of these people drink, regular sodas or diet sodas? So it's not the diet soda causing the metabolic syndrome necessarily but a case of people who do have metabolic syndrome or are at high risk for developing it are drinking a lot of diet soda. Association does not equal causation.

Mice love sugar and sweeteners. It comes as no surprise that they prefer them to coke. Sugar to mice is basically like coke's addictive was to humans

I remember mice choosing cocaine over food in 1990's studies...... Makes since though that all the metabolic syndrome studies where done on obese people, rather than healthy humans.... I think anymore even the water we drink is bad:(

to all my studying though the body does NOT store artificial sweetener as fat around midsection and obliques...... Just don't know if I believe it:)

This is really good...made with stevia. $2 for 10 packs.

Steva leaf has been shown to damage kidneys, and reproductive system of animals.....

Think nowadays everything is bad-- don't think artificial sweeteners is enough to fuck up cutting up

Is Stevia Safe?

EVERYTHING can kill us in excess.... The main thing I don't like is--- there always trying to push stuff out like its "healthy" all about the money$$ and cover up how the body reacts to stuff....

It either pushes it out, or tries to store it......

I worked at a water treatment plant for a while..... Water came from wells --- we added sodium hypochlorite and lime by the bag in there :(

Shitty... What about fluoride...You throw that in there too?

No it's natural occurring in most places, and only required to be tested every 3 years....

I have faith in my Aquafina, don't know many people that still drink tap anyways.... Stuffs toilet bowl water these days lol

Plain water tends to bore me so I add Crystal Light or Hawaiian Punch flavor packet to a bottle of spring water. Heaven in a bottle!
