Guys, which fish oil supplement do you find to have the best dosage for the money? It's time to replenish, and I'd like a few options. Thanks!

I like Vitamin Shoppe 'Meg 3' fish oil. Bout 15 bucks for 100ct, 1000mg omega 3, 300mg EPA, 200mg DHA

I just get the cheapest ones on the shelf.. Krill oil is suppossed to be the Royale

Krill oil is probably the best, but in my area that shit's expensive. I'll stick to the oil from the North American Ghetto-fish. :D

Thanks! the problem with just going cheap is that the doses are usually low: 180/120 EPA/DHA. To get a nice dose, you end up having to use a ton of caps.

If you're just looking for a good mg/$ ratio, why not just go to your local supp store with a pad and paper and do some cross multiplication? :D

Hey Guys,

I am big on fish oil and also flaxseed oil too!

I always try to find the highest quaility, yeah it's alot more than the cheap shit, but you get what you pay for. I while back I bought some liquid omega fish oil at my local healt food store. Serving size is 5ml and does not taste as bad as you think. It has 1100mg of omega blend fish oil with a shit load of EPA/DHA It has 500mg of EPA and 800mg of DHA per 5ml.

I reccomend you give something like that a try! It brought my total cholesterol down from 238 in 8/09 to 173 in 8/10. That's damn impressive!

Thanks,

mrmorris:D

Carlson's. They test for heavy metals and other contaminants.

I like Carlson's too - the liquid version since it's more cost efficient to get a therapeutic dose than handfuls of capsules every day.

Contrary to media hooplah, many brands are required by retailers to be PCB and heavy metal free. I would still stick with a top level brand. May be pricey, but they have a reputation to uphold and are constantly in the media eye so quality is assured. Here is a helpful web page:

Nah, they just want the manufacturers to tell them they are PCB/heavy metal free ;)

Otherwise, you never would have seen so many retailers - big and small - illegally selling so many supplements containing "unapproved new drugs" in all the androgen products recently targeted by the FDA.

If we were being poisoned by heavy metals in our supps, wouldn't many of us have Mees' Lines or other obvious symptoms?

the other reason for using a quality fish oil is its freshness. This stuff is terrible tasking if it is rancid. Many people have complained that if they burp after taking their oils, it tastes bad. Carson's can be taken by the spoonful without a foul taste. I've done the liquid and caps.

Nordic Naturals has had a better price/dosage ratio then Carlson's in the stores i've seen, n also a wider variety of flavors. the strawberry n the peach flavors were pretty tasty actually.

thankfully, i now get Lovaza by rx covered by insurance, so i'd advise that if u can get it from ur doc. 4 caps per day, totalling 1.5 grams of DHA and 1.85 grams of EPA, n it's esterfied so no fishy burps.

Hey,

So this Lovaza Rx fish oil caps your on, are how many mg's per cap? What was your copay for the qty you got?

I may be interested in them. I think I ask my doc what he thinks too.

Thanks man
