Fight Card:

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Mark "The Hammer" Coleman
Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira vs. Hirotaka Yokoi
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Kevin "The Monster" Randleman
"The Texas Crazy Horse" Heath Herring vs. Yoshiki Takahashi
Murilo "Ninja" Rua vs. Sergei Kharitonov
Naoya Ogawa vs. Stefan "Blitz" Leko
Paulo Cesar "Giant" Silva vs. Henry "Sentoryu" Miller
Semmy Schilt vs. "Big" Gan McGee

Previously announced participant Ron "H20" Waterman is still onboard as an alternate.

Once again, I am looking forward to being entertained. I think I will schedule my bathroom break for the Nog fight.

Kharitonov is the new russian that beat up the LA Giant last Pride if I am not mistaken.....smashed him in the melon a few times and then got him with an arm bar. I think he will be an interesting opponent for ninja if he manages to punch him....but for some reason, I expect ninja to take him apart.

Is Giant Silva the big tall guy that coleman beat up a long time ago?

I dont know who takahashi is, nor Lego, nor ogawa, nor miller, and I have never watched semmy schilt fight either. Hopefully they all stand up and strike.....ground fights, though perhaps technically admirable, seem to bore the hell out of me.

I think Randleman and Cole are going to get splattered.

Hogg are you trying to learn a new language. Or is this some esoteric english.

Actually Rodney, my post is gibberish because I do not have time to properly construct sentences nor focus my thoughts while here at the office.

Not enough, just because Ive been lazy. As for the 3k posts..."Id like to thank the Academy..."

Monday is the dawn of a new day. My empire begins to build....

Dude, its 3:30 on a Friday, you should have been gone at noon!

It would be nice to have such a schedule but I have an inferno to battle before tuesday of next week and have focussed my efforts accordingly. I am feeling pretty good about my level of progress with this issue so I will probably leave in an hour.

Then its 4:45 and major traffic. Sometimes its nice to live in the Midwest where traffic jams dont occur.

Hows your business been lately with all the rising prices for commodities?

Bathroom break for the Nog fight? WTF?!? No respect for the Jiu-Jitsu? :D

I am expecting Kharitonov and Rua to be a war! I picked Kharitonov as my upset for the night.

Giant Silva is the guy that Heath Herring beat up. Herring actually had some trouble with him standing, but owned him on the ground. Silva versus LA Giant is just a freakshow of pro-wrestlers. That is my piss break.

Stefan Leko is a K-1 kickboxer from Germany via Holland. He is a great striker, but not quite at the level of Cro-Cop.

Ogawa is the silver-medalist in the Olympics for Judo. The difference between him and Yoshida is that Yoshida competed as a middle-weight in the Olympics but Ogawa is a true heavyweight. I am expecting Ogawa and Leko to be an awesome fight.

Schilt is an awesome fighter and considered by some to be be the most dangerous striker in K-1 (because of his reach). He has 3 wins and 1 draw in K-1 and his wins are over Mike McDonald, Remy Bonjasky, Musashi. He fought to a draw with Ernesto Hoost. For those who dont follow K-1, that list is a "who's who" of elite-level Thai boxing.

I think this is going to be the best PRIDE card in a long-time.

The nice thing is, I live 3.1 miles from my office so it is a 15 minute drive worst case.

Business is difficult right now since we are seeing high material escalation. Some clients have cancelled their projects as the steel price increases have caused deals to look unfavorable on paper. I lost a $ 2.4MM project because the owner cancelled it...overall, it was a $ 25MM project so many other companies in other disciplines suffered as well.

That really sucks. If construction doesnt stay booming, then thats going to be a major hit on the overall economy. I dont have any inside info on my local market, but I know that we have at least 3 major building projects going around town ($200MM+).

I'm in machining Hogg and we have had our steel and aluminum prices triple. Customers are pissing and moaning about it, but what can we do? Do you see an end to this? We seem to be slowing down which is extremly unusual for this time of the year. I need to get out of maunufacturing before its too late.

P.S. Ogawa has been notorious for throwing MMA fights (i.e. all his MMA fights so far have been works under Inoki)

LOL....no disrespect intended but I have just grown impatient waiting for BJJ practitioners to set up for submission attempts and the like. I enjoy watching big strikes.

I have to go with Ninja because of his last name :D

Well, if the need for machine-fabricated parts goes down as a result of raw material pricing, you can rest assured that the rest of the world is equally sucking the big one along with your industry segment.

We have been watching copper closely for the past 4 months and it has tapered back down after a lot of volatility. Steel will eventually taper down as well but not after things sort themselves out in trading. Aluminum has also experienced high buying pressure and what we have right now is a seller's market where the commodity prices have been bid up exponentially by the demand.

Its just like real estate. The house next door to me is offered at $ 499K and it is nothing to write home about at 1,100 square feet. 4 months ago, my friend's mom's house went for $ 425K and it is about par with this one. So in 1/3 of a year, we have watched a $ 75K appreciation and I have been told that this house will go for $ 515K by the end of the weekend. Now, a 2,000 footer in this neighborhood is $ 700K and I just talked to a realtor a few minutes ago who told me I would be lucky to find a tear down around here for less than $ 475K.....mind you, a house needing at least $ 50-100K worth of work. My question is, how many people will pay $ 500K for a starter home in a middle class neighborhood where the homes are all 30+ years old???

What we are experiencing is inflation on a drastic scale. Inflation cannot run unchecked because if interest rates move too drastically to counter borrowing (to buy the inflated goods), then the economy will come to a grinding halt because no one will be able to afford borrowing the money to buy things, thus business revenue subsides, thus layoffs, thus unemployment and regression in personal income. When that happens, tax revenue decreases...because the headcount of people working is drastically reduced, and the government has to make drastic moves to stimulate the economy.....sort of what we just came out of right?

I dont know the answers. I'm also seeing some really apprehensive movement in the stock market and I believe that the economy is not strong enough to burden this catastrophic rise in inflation. I could be wrong as I tend to look torward the pessimistic side but he who stands with cash in the bank is likely to weather even the worst of storms.....right now, my suggestion is to squander your money and be prepared for hard times.

It will get worse before it gets better.

My picks:
- Fedor over Coleman.
- Nog over Yokoi (and yes Hogg, you should pay respect to elite BJJ :D).
- Mirko over Randleman.
- Herring over Yoshiki.
- Sergei over Ninja (what's Ninja doing in HW anyway?, he had trouble handling big LHWs let alone HWs).
- Ogawa over Leko.
- Silva over Miller.
- Schilt over McGee.

There you go, you don't need to lose your money on PPV, you know the results, just get the DVD once it's out.

Hogg, I was looking at houses the other day. Saw a nice 1800 sq footer with a double lot for $110k. Maybe I should slap that badboy on a trailer and move it to CA for some REAL capital appreciation!

Bob, what would be a good investment in the US these days?. I want to stay away from the Nasdaq, it's just too unpredictable. Any ideas?
