Switching Cypionate to Gel

Well, I decided to head to the New Family doc today and see what this younger guy learned in med school. I must admit I was VERY pleased. He was very nice guy and listened and replied to everything I wanted to speak about. I mentioned my issues of water retention while on cypionate and explained how it was effecting my Blood Pressure. I ended up leaving with a script for androgel 5mg and a Beta Blocker since I have an irregular heart beat too.

Im happy with the change actually because I have really struggled not to gain weight while on the Cypionate. I think its all water but it just doesnt feel natural. I go back in three months for a lab and we may increase the dose then.

I think I got lucky with this doc because he said he does HRT injections for some patients and understood ALL my concerns. Best of all I didnt get the LOOK.

Im curiuos though anyone else have any experience with changing from cypionate to gel.

Its a good day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually just did the opposite. I went from 5g of Androgel daily to 200mg of test cyp every other week. I am due for another injection tomorrow and still feeling pretty good. I had a little slide towards the end for the last couple days but not a complete bottoming out like I expected. I may go with 100mg every week - or 200 every 12-13 days if it becomes an issue. The gel worked OK for me - nowhere near as good as the cyp has. My first 2-7 days on the gel were wild. I am guessing my DHT went up to sky high levels before getting back down to a more constant level. I was aggressive as could be and more horny than I don't know what. So far on the cyp I have not had any water weight gain. Actually my body weight has stayed nearly the same and I have lost a little over 5% of my bodyfat in just 14 days. Dieting seems to finally be working. Best of luck to you - sorry to ramble on like that.

All Hail Maximus! Welcome to the Board, Bro.

Congrats on finding a physician who is happy to administer TRT.

Is he a DO or an MD? Just curious.

It is much tougher to switch from a transdermal to an injectable than the other way around. I would step up the dose, starting at the one week point, beginning with two pumps (you have the new Androgel pump bottle, right?) and increasing by one pump every five days, until you reach 4 pumps (5gms QD).

Men are more likely to experience water retention on a transdermal than injectable ester. Hopefully it will be the other way around for you.

Im not sure I understand. They gave me the 5mg packets to start with. I was planning on starting with my 1st packet on the day my shot would normally be due.

Swale can you explain the method you mention with the Packets I have.

Also , I think you MAY have mis-typed something. I thought you said before it was easier to switch from Gel to IM ,than IM to Gel.

Also thanks for the WELCOME!!!

No, I just was reading too fast, and when you said they gave you packets, I thought that was the direction yuou were going.

Take the Androgel, and give yourself your first shot. The next day, take a half dose of Androgel. Then D/C the Androgel. Simple as that!

No, SWALE, you got it right the first time. He's switching from Cyp to Gel. He was given packets though instead of the pump. He's wanting to know how to ramp up when he's only using packets.

How would one switch from Cypionate to Gel? Do you have to wait for the Cypionate to clear out before doing the Gels, and if so how long would you have to wait?

Have you ever had your E2 Estradiol tested if your high you will hold water at least I did and I was on the gels for a long time. When I went to shots every week I am now losing weight and now holding water any more.
Phil

You have to ramp up the Androgel per the half-life of the cypionate ester, taking several weeks ot get to the final dose of gel.

Swale,

Would you please provide an example of a scenario where someone who was taking 100mg Testosterone Cypionate and wanted to convert to Gel, what the doses of the gel would be and over what period when ramping up.

Would it be easier to just wait for 5 weeks?

Thanks.

Keep us updated on your progress. I am up about 10lbs from switching from Androgel to Cyprionate, but I think it is more fat than anything else because I have been travelling a lot for work and my diet isn't 100% on when I am on the road (too easy to order free room service).

pretty neat! did you plug in some numbers to see how it works?

Yep, it works great!!!!!

This little program takes the mystery out of proper dosing to achieve stable blood levels in the quickest amount of time. For example, if you would like to achieve stable blood levels in the quickest amount of time for a weekly shot of 50mg T Cypionate, your first weekly shot would be 50mg, the second would be 70mg and the third shot would be 50mg, and 50mg every week thereafter. After 3 weeks the blood levels of T are stable every week. Really cool!!!!

Check this out!!!!!

If you plan on doing 100mg T cypionate weekly and want to arrive at stable blood levels as quick as possible:
The first shot would have to be 180mg, and every week thereafter 100mg. According to this program you're stable after 1 week!!!! This program rocks!!!!!

An update to the 50mg per week T Cypionate dosing would be: 90mg for the first shot and 50mg every week thereafter. Blood levels are stable after 1 week. It looks like, according to this program, to achieve stable blood levels after 1 week for T Cypionate the first shot must 180% of the standard dose.

Swale, what do you think about all this?

I have attached an Excel file that shows the blood levels for a 100mg per weak regimen starting with an initial shot of 180mg and 200mg. For the 180mg the blood levels stabilise after 1 week. For the 200mg the blood levels stabilise after about 4 weeks.

For some reason the feature to expand the weeks beyond 8 does not work. This feature would have been very helpfull.

Start a new thread on roidcalc u highjackers!

I'm very interested in the differences between cyp/enan shots and androgel.

See with androgel, your test can be continually at the top of the range since it is applied every day.

With shots u only get to be at the top for a day then they decline.
