Tamoxifen

Hi again
As I mentioned in an other thread, I stopped all TRT and then the HCG , I Used Tamoxifen low dose (5 then 10 mg daily )
I didn't stop taking it apart from few days, to see how my body works without anything. I planned on Using aromasin post tamoxifen for a short time but I changed my mind.
I noticed a better mood and more energy and sex drive is good.
Now I will drop back to 5 mg for a couple of weeks then it's time to stop the Tamoxifen, I am aware that there's a risk of failure but I believe that if this happens (If it happens)then it's going to be temporary ! I hope so.
I am aware of the initial surge of E post Tamoxifen and this will be temporary as well hopefully.
I'll let my body sort itself out, like it did with the high prolactin that I had due to some crap medications many years ago.(This was the reason I went on TRT, Because prolactin ruined my hormones)

I am not expecting the Testosterone levels to stay moderately high after stopping tamoxifen, after years of TRT and hcg etc.. I am quite sure It will take few months to maybe a year to get the results I want.

Blood test results:

Testosterone: 18 nmol/L
Estrogen :" Normal"(Quoting my GP : she wouldn't tell me more for some reason, she said I need to discuss it with my Endo!!!!)

I don't know about the Lh or fsh numbers as these were not requested.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

one question : everytime I take the tamoxifen, about one hour later I start having severe urge to urinate, then it subsides after about a couple of hours, is this normal?

Im thinking of trying a restart soon. Just curious how long you were on trt for. What was your hcg and serm protocol?

about 8 years ? Maybe more !
TRT about 6 years.
Hcg on an off for the last 2 years

I can't remember exactly.

HCG stopped working for some reason and gave me more side effects than benefits in the end.

I don't think it's desensitization or at least it wasn't permanent(whatever it was) , Otherwise Tamoxifen wouldn't have been able to increase my T even at such a low dose.

But what I know is that HCG stopped incresing T levels as it did in the beginning.

My current experience with tamoxifen is relatively new: weeks.

I think Tamoxifen alone can achieve a lot.

But will the success stick after stopping it or not!? That's an other issue.

I am still using Tamixifen but I will discontinue it soon

Tomorrow I am going to ask the Prof about few things:
-How come Tamoxifen helps my mood to an extent that was noticeable to all people around me, I saw most people online talking about its side effects!
-Can some people be more sensitive to estrogen than others? even if the numbers look healthy ?!
- Can Prolactin that was high for years have long lasting effects on mood ?Even after dropping back to the normal range ?!

I will tell you what he says tomorrow

Did you use HCG after coming off TRT before starting the tamoxifen? If so at what dose and for how long?

Thank you good luck with your doc appt tomorrow

Yes
HCG was great for about 6 Months at a low dose(500 ui twice weekly)
But It was increased and this didn't work, even when I went back to the initial dose it just stopped working as it was.
I actually started believing in the desensitisation theory untill I used Tamoxifen , because if I my leydig cells were desensitised , Then Tamoxifen wouldn't work as it does.
So it's something else rather than desensitisation I guess!

ps: I wouldn't call this a success, Once I am off everything and the T levels stay in good shape or at least drop only temporarily then bounce back, then it's not going to be success.

I know I am going to need to be very patient.

years of dormant pituitary gland cannot recover easily.

I need to be realistic.

I might find myself resorting to some Cabergoline to help healing the pituitary gland, especially after the damage that was done to its function due to high Prolactin that I had for years(No tumor though).

Now Prolactin is normal So I need to wait and see.

Cheers.

Sucess so far
My hpta axis- testicular function recovered.
Testosterone 17 at 10 am
I lost weight (7 kilos) for some reason but no loss of muscle..
But maybe it's too early.

Tamoxifen was powerful but low dose cabergoline helped later on (2.5 mg twice weekly) but at a price (shitty mood , borderline paranoia and anger)

I am not taking anything now

But I have some tamoxifen just in case.

We'll see.

I was wondering if you thought of low dose clomid as an alternative, If so why did you choose tamoxifen? I always thought they work in synergy best

What did your Prof say about your moodlift? I read a study online about tamoxifen being used as a mood stabilizer. Something about it being a specfic protein inhibitor as well as antagonizing some serotonin receptors.

He thinks that it's all to do with normalization of T levels , thus the mood brightening effects, also Tamoxifen doesn't act like estrogen in the brain like Clomid does(something like this)
Also tamoxifen helps bones and lowers cholesterol and protects the heart in some people.
The only worrying side effect would be visual problems , as these can be severe.
This is what I can remember from our talk .

From my experience 10 mg daily was perfect and in case I fail I am willing to use it twice weekly to keep the levels where I want them to be or a bit close.
But hopefully I won't need it.

Cabergoline helped a lot as well, but it's a dangerous stuff in my case so I'd rather stay away from it (anger and paranoia etc)
