Was finishing up a small cycle and made some great progress. Back on trt and ready to blast again but...the tip on the back of the both elbows are tender to the touch. Started icing them after any push exercises. Right elbow was starting to get worse. Went to the doc for 2 cortisone shots near elbow tip and tricep area. Fixed it for a few weeks. Pain came back.

Now it started to wrap around the right forearm area, the pain, seems like straight bar curls aggravates it. I quit skull crushers. Ice and anti-inflammatory pills help but it's temporary. This is some bullshit, thought about masking the problem with some NPP/Test and continuing the ice treatment and push through the pain.

That or rest for 2 weeks which will suck.

Anyone gone through some crap like this. Seems like rest or steroid shots are the only answer. Even thought about growth but damn the price...

I have tendinitis in my elbows and got the bands that go around the forearm and that helped a lot with benching and skullcrushers. Sometimes I pop an advil before a workout as well.

Accupuncture bro. I always thought it was bullshit until my doctor recommended I try that instead of shot. It is pretty amazing. I go once every week or two just to "work out the kinks"; if my back is a little achy, knees are a bit sore, elbows killing me off to the clinic. The one I go to is only $25 per session.

Or you can try these:

In fact, I dont even know if you even need to bar, I do the exercises with just a towel and muscle tension, and it seems to help.

Bro I have suffered with tendonitis/tendonosis for over 30 years...too many 185 pound skull crushers...I had at least a dozen prolotherapy injections into each tri tendon plus numerous cortisone shots to no avail...I had surgery 10 years ago to reattach a ruptured tri tendon...once you get tendonitis it is virtually impossible to be free of it...last year I tried an old school remedy...I put cod liver oil onto a gauze 4x4 and secured to my tri tendons with tape and plastic wrap...then I covered it with a tommy copper elbow sleeve....I did this every night for 1 week...voila, it has not returned in a year...I only go to 95 for barbell extensions now...but it is nice to not feel that pain........kk

Unfortunately the hardest thing to do...time off of anything that causes pain or irritation.

cortisone is probably one of the worst things when it comes to masking pain, good for a few weeks and the pain came back like your saying is to be expected.

Probably a good chance you can come back worse from that once your shot wears off because cortisone does such a good job of reducing inflammation and pain that you work through and cause more damage.

There is a lot of studies that show good results with platlet rich plasma injections. More and more research is showing the negative long term results of cortisone especially with these types of tendon issues.

Ok whatever you do, no more NSAIDs or cortisone. That is like the worst thing in the world for it. Especially if your still lifting while talking it. There is something called voodoo flossing you can do. Some gay ass cross fitter named it that. But it seems to work pretty good for my elbows. There is also a type of massage you can get where they go in and break up the scar tissue. It's supposed to be extremely painful. I have never tried it. Can't think of what it is called either.

Voodoo floss times two. Amazon has it and you tube will show you what's up. Stay away from cortisone- nsaids are fucking poison. Feel the pain- it's there to tell you something.

Appreciate the advice fellas, gonna give some of these ideas a go! Anything to get some relief without much time off helps. Ice has been the go to but got some new ideas here. Thanks!

I've got it too.

The massages help, I go to Asia a couple times per year, get daily 2 hour sessions that totally crush my arms and upper back - works out all knots, and introduces tremendous blood flow.

Stretching is good. Also eccentric work, with weights or a Flexbar - where you only do the negative side. Try with a 10lb dumbell, place your arm palms down over the edge of a table, lift the weight with your other hand, and let your hand holding the weight just slow it down. Repeat 20 times x3.

Btw One of my buddy is a physical therapist and he recommends alternating heat and ice.

Time off is your best idea until it gets better. I had to take about 3 months off of the gym. But it was totally worth it.
Also stay away from straight bar and anything else that out your wrists in awkward positions. Start to wear a wrist brace and atleast for atleast a month or so after it stops hurting. It really helped me. Also I think hgh has some good benefits for tendon healing. lots of stretching and deep massaging. When ever mine acts up I rub my forearms as hard as I can with this wheel I got from the hardware store, stretch it and I am good to go

+1 for the massage, but if you don't want to get an actual massage, like me, start foam rolling (or roll the area on a lacrosse ball) the area that hurts regularly. If you're doing it right it will be extremely painful but it will help a lot. At least it did/does for me.

@weighted chinup thank you for the detailed file. Actually, thanks for eveyone that chimed it's appreciated. Already trying the voodoo floss along with ice and slightly deloaded on some training movements. Will try heat too soon.

This tight band seems to help quite a bit. My friend who loves crossfit cuz he's gay lol, I kid, also told me about the voodoo bands awhile back. Well I didn't listen until you guys also recommended them lol. He told me instead of buying the expensive Rouge band for $30. Just buy a 26 inch tire tube and cut to fit. Not a bad $8 dollar investment. Thank you Meso members

I see a myotherapist for all my pains. Dealt with sore elbows for years. Dig those fingers in there to release all that tight muscle. Hurts like hell, but the release is good. Consistently place pressure on these sore spots as you extend an flex the joint. Avoid exercises that aggravate it. Good luck

You have to rest. I had it so bad in my knee ( I couldn't walk)and it comes back know and then. Rest is the only thing you can do. I mean just rest that area you can do other body parts. Work on things that don't agrevate it. Then when the pain is ok. Start sort of light and work your way up, on the muscles that support the area the hurts. You have to re work the muscles the support the hurt area. Then you will be back to normal. I have to do this all the time and it works. I dont ice or anything. Sometimes advil here or there. The reason tendonitits takes a while to heal. Is becuase of the lack of blood flow to the area. So heat will work better then ice. To increase blood flow. Ice is only when you just hurt it to decarese swelling.
PM me if you want. I have to go to school. I can help you out better and explain when I have more time. DO not aggervate it.!!!!! This will just make it worse and it will NEVER heal. Pain is not your friend in this case. Or for any tendonitis. I have to go my bad.
I am going to school to physical therapy.

Also weighted chimp is right. ECCENTRIC TRAINING. I havent read this thread. I just typed this information. I gtg.

There are different ranges of pain for tendonitis. Which one do you have.

1-Hurts only after exercise
2-hurts in begininging of exercise, then pain fades away when you are warmed up.But returns after you are cooled down. But stops 30 mintes later.
3-Hurts all the time during exercise and stops 30 min after exercise.
4- Hurts all the time

Doctors say that if its a 4, then injections (Platelet injections) which someone brought up before. Last option is surgery. I think otherwise. I literally thought my tendonitis was going to be the end of me. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't put on my socks. Walk up stairs. I lost my ability to play basketball obviously. I was pissed because I started to dunk. Which is what caused it. I would never warm up and satrt jumping to dunk. Deadlifting was was made my knee get better. I still can't start my workout with squats I have to do a 10 minute bike warmup. Then do hammy curls. then deadlifts. then I can squat. If i do anything else. I fuck up my tendonitis. I am dunking again. FINALLY. I am getting pretty good at it too. It took a while to heal.

I decided to go to school for PT. Because I wanted to learn how to heal my injury. Also keep it healed. I am in my last semester. Not in grad school. I have been to physical therapy as well. With electrical pulse therapy. Which helps. Also I did accupuncture. Which helped a little. But it hurts so much when they stick the needled in and move them up and down. Almost too much.

Now I always warm up before doing anything that will hr my knee. I used to almost an hour of warm-ups so my knee could make it through a bball game.

So that's what I have done.

You can heal the pain. You must stop doing things that hurt it though. This is your only way.

So what do you rate the pain? 1,2,3,4

Heat is your friend. Ice only after a major set back AKA, when swelling in apparent.
Heat otherwise. Eccentric exercises are only good, when you are not in pain. If you feel the slightest bit of pain when doing the eccentric execises. STOP. Rest/do other body parts for 1 week. Then try the eccentric exercises with basically zero weight. Doctors say to do these 2-3 times a day. You should feel know pain while doing these. Then your are doing them right. Look them up online. The eccentric exercises for elbow tendonitis. If you are sure it is tendonitis in the first place.

Which area does it hurt. The golfers Elbow part? Or Medial Epicondyle?

elbow-tendonitis.jpg

1.First you want pain to stop.(Ice and Heat)
2.Then you want to stretch the areas around it and you want to do rehab exercises, with no weight.
3.Then you want to strengthen the muscles around the elbow.
4.Then you want to strengthen the tendon. This is where eccentric exercises usually come in to play.
5. Then you can start lifting with little weight/increasing slightly as you feel better.

This is only for the elbow area. You can do anything else 100 percent if you feel no pain at that area. AKA Legs, Shoulders, back, chest.
