I've been suffering with ED for years since coming off cycle and got my testosterone level checked yesterday. I've just got the results today.

25.4 nmo1/L on a range of 7.6 - 31.4

What could be causing my ED? This is really getting to me now.

Whatever it is, it is not your testosterone level, be happy for that!

I'm having my estrogen checked and a few more tests they recommended. I know it's hormonal because it happened after cycle! I was fine before.

Hopefully you are getting at least free T, DHT and E2 tested next and perhaps SHBG and bioavailable T. Free T and E2 seem to have a significant effect on my ED and libido, even more than total T seems to.

Could be
1) thyroid imbalance
2) adrenal issues
3) poor lifestlye,
4) Poor sleep patterns
5) estrodial imbalances
6) unhappy with current relationship
7) mental or emotional stress - with holding or anxiety.
8) poor diet
9) Diabetes or circulation issues.
10) High shbg or low bio testosterone

OK let me consider this list.

1) thyroid imbalance

Nope. Endo checked my thyroid. t3, t4 all that jazz.

2. adrenal issues

what does this mean exactly? my a.m. cortisol was fine, so endo said my adrenals are fine.

3. poor lifestyle

i dont drink. i eat healthy. i excercise. i get good sleep. nope.

4. poor sleep patterns

nope

5. estradiol imbalances

maybe. i dont really know. my 17 beta estradiol came back... 254

i dont know what the range is though, and the endo didn't mention it.

6. unhappy with current relationship

not really. shes nice, fit and sexy.

7. mental and emotional stress

yes i do have it. but i dont think its supressing my libido.

8. poor diet

nope

9. Diabetes or circulation issues

Hmm!! My fasting glucose was 6.2 in the morning, and the range is 3.9-6.1

thats pretty high isn't it?

10. shbg

Endo actually checked shbg. it's fine.

So the two culprits could be...

1. Estrogen imbalance
2. I possibly have diabetes

I'm getting results tomorrow for thyroid and estrogen; also these:

Sodium
Potassium
Chloride
Bicarbonate
Urea
Creatinine
Bilirubin
Alkaline phosphatase
AST
ALT
CK
LDH
Gamma-GT
Protein (Total)
Albumin
Globulin
Calcium
Phosphate
Uric Acid
Glucose
Cholesterol
Triglycerides
HDL Cholesterol
LDL Cholesterol
Iron
TIBC

I'm going to carry out further tests even though it's costing me a fortune. Thanks for the advice guys. I'd be lost without this forum.

E2 is high. 254 pmol/L = 69.2 pg/mL. The normal range is about 10 or 15 to 55, with 20 to 35 being a good range. Check about 1/3 of the way down here:

http://www.keratin.com/ab/ab018.shtml

Adult men - estradiol = <185 pmol/L

You might be pre-diabetic at that glucose range. It should be rechecked.

They both can feed one another if your e2/T ratio is out of balance this could cause insulin issues as welll as vitamin D defiecincy <50 ng/dl for biological functions can also play a huge role as well.

Fine does not mean jack shit - i hear that all the time and why people end up getting lost in the system never getting well.

I haven't got the paperwork yet but I've just been on the phone and they say my estrogen is high. Maybe that's the problem.

That did it for me. When my total and free T were both high, but my E2 was over the upper lab range, I had ED and lower libido. I seem to be fine over a relatively big range of total T, but if my free T is good and my E2 is in the middle of the range then I am fine. High E2 is a killer for me.

^ How did you lower your E2. Arimidex? Nolva?

I know for a fact that my GP won't prescribe those as they're for women. My thyroid is also in the high range of normal. Hyperthyroidism?

Do you have insurance?

The cost for these tests (bold) should be no more than $50.00. In fact, often they cost less than $25.00!!! They are what are commonly called a CMC Profile, a VERY routine test.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I've had them drawn three times and all together we always get billed for $55.

Do you have insurance?

Unfortunately I don't.

Here are some more results:

17-Beta Oestradiol = 181 pmo1/L. The range is 44 - 156

SHBG = 33. Range is 11 - 52

TSH = 2.06. Range is 0.27 - 4.2

Free Thyroxine = 21.2. Range is 12.0 - 22.0

Cortisol = 747. Range is 171 - 536.

The Estrogen and Cortisol are way higher than the lab range, and the free thyroxine is very high too.

I can't believe the doctor said that I wouldn't need these test because they would come back normal. Shows how much he knows.

What's my next step. Which should I treat first. Help.
