My sister is 59, low oestrogen and very lowT and freeT, with symptoms like muscle loss, fat deposit, sleep issues even though she is an athlete and diet is healthy.
She started taking 16mg of test cyp every 10 days, subcutaneous.
Her question :
How will her oestrogen evolve?
Is Test going to be enough or is she going to need to take oestrog/prog also?
She is going to do blood test at 3 months, 6 and 12 to assess things
THANKS :)

I’m taking 16 mg test every week and progesterone. That seems to be working well for me.

Wouldn’t be enough for me. Standard hrt treatment includes e & p. Progesterone specifically is what resolved my sleep issues

With females it’s more a matter of supplementing with whatever is falling off rather than being higher in test but still crashed with estrogen and/or progesterone. Oftentimes, just elevating testosterone and not addressing the other 2 can make them feel worse

No estrogen without progesterone if she has functioning ovaries/uterus.

Estrogen generally: libido, skin, vaginal/bladder function and atrophy prevention. Used to be that postmenopausal women were a no-go for estrogen replacement, nowadays it’s not a hard no. There does seem to a be a window for it though, if you’re more than 10 years out from your last period, estrogen replacement therapy isn’t as effective as estrogen receptors have largely died off. At least that’s where the studies seem to be pointing, post Women’s Health Initiative clusterf*ck.

Progesterone: helps with sleep, needed to oppose estrogen if functioning ovaries uterus still present (still having a period)

Testosterone: general well being, libido (maybe, for some, not so much), easier to add/maintain muscle mass, cognitive function, etc.

She won’t know about her estrogen without regular blood tests.

Testosterone alone can be a good place to start, but won’t address e/p issues. Aromatization in to estrogen is just not really a significant thing with exogenous T in women, would be nice if it was, though!

Very quick and dirty run down :P

I know where I can get Test C but does anyone know where I can get injectable E & P without paying a fortune to the compounding pharmacies? I can get my own bloodwork through my insurance. Im 56 years old, post menopausal and have been working on losing weight with T and a daily calorie deficit, walking 5 miles 6 days a week, strength and flexibility training 2 days a week, yoga 3 days a week and water aerobics 6 days a week. Ive been doing this for about months and have lost 6 pounds. My bloodwork show my Free T3 is 3.0, Estrogen <15.2pg/ml, TSH 6.14 uIU/ml, Progesterone .56 ng/ml. I feel like I could get my shit together if I could get my weight under control. I dont want anything that I have to take orally because I already have the beginning sign of fatty liver.
