News bot on steroids
Jeffrey Nedrow, an assistant United States attorney, asked Bowers, the chief science director of the United States Anti-Doping Agency, how steroid use could affect a man’s testicles.
“It’s been well documented that you could have testicular atrophy,” Bowers said, before putting it simply. “They will shrink.”
He said that one scientific paper reported that the testicles of steroid users shrank in relation to the amount of steroids they used. “A little more than a quarter of an inch between the high-dose folks and the norms, on average,” he said during his five hours of testimony.
The defense has said, however, that a decrease in size would be impossible to gauge without an orchidometer, which is used to measure the volume of testicles.
