I grew up on it myself. I grew up in Jersey but I spent all my time with my mothers side of the family who were a bunch of ex coal miners that moved from the hills of West Virginia and Pennsyltucky looking for work.

I became a full in metal head around 10 years old but country has and always will be my mainstay. There is a lot of awesome underground country artists who are really keeping that country feel alive but they get zero play on the radio unfortunately.

It's funny I think back now and I'm old enough to remember when New Jersey had not one but two country music stations!!! My my my how times have changed in my lifetime.

What do you think of his newest stuff? I liked Imaginary Appalachia but I find it harder to get the same vibe off his newer stuff. Its like most guys who spent years working on the songs that make up their first album and then spend months working on the follow up and it shows in the depth of the instrumentation.

Doesn't even sound like the same artist! I agree completely. Even the sound quality seems rushed. Although I always thought he needed more fiddle lol!

Speaking of fiddle....
Borders on bluegrass but I will post it anyway.

Perfect description of farming in my county.
Myself and one other family in the area are the last hold outs. The rest is now rented to farm corps and some even owned in China. The landscapers bought up all the old stone walls. Mine is the only one left for 20 or so miles. I built it and as long as I'm alive it goes nowhere lol!!!

I'm smack dab in the middle of farm country here in North Georgia but it's mostly chicken and steers around here. It seems a lot of guys are clearing land raising black angus these days over building chicken houses. With the beef prices going the way they are I can understand why.

Beautiful area to live in!

We are on the verge or raising Scottish Highland cattle. Big wooly bastards can stand the cold up here, -40c lol

I know exactly what they are. I'm not a connoisseur of all things bovine but I can say I probably know more than the average passerby who points out the window as they drive through upstate New York lol.

I'm fascinated by the Texas Longhorns and the Watusi as there was a ranch up the road that raise both breeds of the Longhorns. I also find Charolais beef cattle to be pretty interesting from a musculature standpoint.

Apart from the 80’s-90’s country that I grew up on—Garth, Allen Jackson, Travis Tritt, etc. I listen to the legends a lot—Waylon, Hank JR, Johnny Cash, etc. Waylon is definitely my favorite. Shooter makes good music too.

new stuff, I’m liking a lot of Brantley Gilbert’s stuff, minus the rap shit. Riley Green is awesome (Listen to Outlaws Like Us if you haven’t). Aaron Lewis. Luke Combs. Of course Chris Stapleton. Creed Fisher is awesome too.

there’s more, but that’s off the top of my head.
