"according to the associated press, the electronic sports league announced thursday that it would begin random drug tests at tournaments and competitive esport events, and that it 'plans to work with the world anti-doping agency to create and enforce rules surrounding the use of performance enhancing drugs.'", for video games .
"esl and wada will give esport athletes o_O ped skin tests- but not blood tests- starting at next months esl one cologne event. amphetamine, and active ingredient in adderall and a nervous system stimulant, can be detected in human sweat."

"the announcement came after a competitive video game player said in a youtube video posted last week that he and his team used the drug adderall during an esl tournament in march where players competed for $250,000 in prize money."
"the cologne, germany-based organization said the random drug tests would begin at its esl one cologne tournament in august. previously, esl prohibited the use of drugs, alcohol and other performance enhancers but didn't test for doping o_O:confused::eek:.

LMFAO :).

Lol while it's funny that they call them "athletes" I do have to respect their willingness to do whatever it takes to be the best at what they do. Especially if they can make a living doing it. $250K for a tournament!? That's crazy. I would do the same thing without hesitation if I was those video game players.

It sucks for them that they have to get drug tested now lol

Wow. I wonder if theyll include marijuana. I know when i was younger and played video games I would smoke and get that lazer focus and just kill it. At least I thought I was killing it...coulda been the weed.

Its big business!! Amazon paid 1 billion for Twitch.tv where you can watch people play video games.

wada doesnt seem to have that same respect. I think theyre overreaching. im not sure whats at stake here, with video games. except maybe prize money. who knew.

I guess this is no different the "real" sports. From the outside we dont care who's doing what, but im sure other people who devote their lives to playing video games dont want their competitors to have an advantage.

Any kind of competition that people can make money from, there are going to be people trying to get an advantage.

In this case would beta blockers be considered a PED? They could be used to reduce anxiety especially when players are set up in front of big crowds for a huge tournament or something.

I also agree with Jay on how marijuana helps focusing in games. I swear I'm much better at first person shooters after a good session.

I usually do some speed and play a couple of hours of GTA.

Then I go out to the real world where the real fun begins.

Back when I did smoke I was an assassin on Goldeneye.
