Those with knowledge and or experience with finasteride

Been beside myself lately on just going the bald route but wanted to get opinions from those experienced on here. I’m attaching a pic I took yesterday so you can see how thinned the back of the head is. Would taking finasteride be beneficial at all?
Forget finasteride. Not only is it harmful, it doesn't even work.

If you want to save your hair, you'd have to go all in on the Rogaine. Minoxidil. 5%. Liquid or foam. Atleast twice per day. If you can do it more than two times per day, that's better.

Also, use Ketoconzale shampoo. Nizoral. Twice per week. 5 minutes sitting on the scalp

Minoxidil oral is an option also.

Minoxidil will regrow your hair. But you have to be disciplined with it.

And here comes this clown as he spits in the face of science

I’m very prone to MPB and this Is the way. Not sure I’d say fina doesn’t work. I believe it does for many but at what cost? Because all one needs to do is seek out forums with the thousands of stories from guys that regret ever hearing of that drug.

It’s heinous and in my simplest way to describe how I feel about it is to say it’s ideal for chemical castration. If you want to screw up the wiring on the most sophisticated system on the planet then be my guest because that’s what that drug does. All for some damn hair!

I used it myself about 15 years ago. I’m not sure how long it took me to shake some of the side effects but it was several years. The mental funk cloud lasted a decade +. Pretty sure it played a role in a failed marriage but can’t fully blame finasteride lol. I use these opportunities to chime in on it because I know it will save someone from a miserable existence.

Inspired, again I’ll say I always enjoy your contributions and appreciate the wisdom you have shared over the years I’ve been reading this board. Have a great weekend brother.

It works, and may be harmful as everything foreign in your body could potentially be harmful. Finasteride brougt back all the hair I lost when I started TRT, and since being in it for around 4/5 years I haven’t had a single issue. I wish I had started it in my mid/late 20s as I would have probably kept almost all my hair. Saying it is bad and doesn’t work is false. It 100% works.

Thank you for telling your story. Interestingly, something very similar happened to me. I took Propecia and I didn't feel right for many years after it. I truly believe it screwed up some of my development.

I started losing hair at a young age. I knew MPB was coming. When Propecia came out, I got it.

I had read the propaganda book "The Bald Truth" in the year 2000. I followed the clinical trial data for "Propecia" at the time. It sounded like a miracle, like the perfect drug. I was young and naive, so I trusted "the science". And the science turned out to be 100% bullshit. If anyone wants to see what a fraudulent clinical trial looks like, go and look at the "Propecia" data.

I took Propecia when it came out, and I felt exactly as you just described. I didn't take it very long but I felt screwed up from it for years. Looking back, it feels like a miracle that I was able to recover from it.

In regards to the hair: I had to shave it for my new job at the time. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked it and I stuck with it, so the hair issue ended for me a long time ago and I'm thankful for that.

Many years later, one day, for the hell of it, just out of curiosity, I decided to experiment with Rogaine. I regrew so much hair, it was incredible. I used it for 6 months and regrew hair everywhere, and it kept improving. You couldn't tell I was thinning.

I didn't stick with the Rogaine because ultimately, I didn't care about my hair, and I got bored with the experiment. But the experiment proved to me that Rogaine works and I realized that if I had started using it at a younger age, I'd have kept my hair.

How much did you lose and how much did it bring it back? It's not uncommon to regrow hair or lose hair. How are you sure finasteride was what did it?

It only took about 3 or 4 months for me to notice I had lost hair when I started trt. I was already thinned out, so when I noticed this I kind of freaked out a little as I do not look good bald. I got on the finasteride a couple weeks after that, and still use 1mg every day. I regrew everything I had lost from trt back after the finasteride and some from what I had lost before. It was the only thing I had changed, and it is 100% responsible for me keeping the hair I have left. Since being on finasteride this is the longest I have gone since my mid 20s without noticing any changes in my hair. I’m don’t remember how long it took to grow back, but it wasn’t too long. I remember my wife making comments that she could tell it was working quickly.

I’ve cut my usage of the foam to nighttime only. But I increased the usage of the Nizoral. I don’t think I’m regrowing much but it feels like I have majorly slowed down the thinning. And knowing what I know about adding any other options I’m content just maintaining to minimize the usage of other drugs.
