Do you put a tarp over the equipment at night?Buy used . Craigslist built my gym for cheap....View attachment 63466
Very true. I'll definitely lock it up in the back room once I'm gone from the gym.I say go for it...
Not a dick move imo, i mean who else besides powerlifters will have a need or really appreciate those sick competition plates.
The average casual lifter has no clue. I see the CrossFit wannabes trying to do Oly lifts with a Texas Power Bar. Blows my mind. Shit it actually pisses me off.I wouldn't want the average casual lifter being careless with my high dollar personal equipment either. They don't even need specialized equipment anyway.
Nice set up bro.View attachment 63469
Yep , multiple tarps & WD40 (Oregon rain....)
Im so used to working out outside I dread going to the town gym , too confining . I got a Powerhouse squat rack on my back deck for squats & deadlifts...works for me .![]()
He mentioned locking up the equipment .Sounds like a great idea @franchise24
How would you stop lifters from using your equipment if your not in the gym?
My bars I'll lock up in the back room. The weights I'll chain the up in the storage rack.Sounds like a great idea @franchise24

Better have a skull and crossbones warning sign there then lolMy bars I'll lock up in the back room. The weights I'll chain the up in the storage rack.

My plan is to eventually move them from the gym I go to, to my basement or when I get the opportunity to open my own gym.Not a dick move and actually quite common a of serious lifters who purchase their own equipment. My coach's gym has something like 30-40bars locked up that only their owners and whomever they allow use.

Yeah he's cool with it. There is a guy I lift with that keeps his Texas Squat Bar there. Our plan is to get this equipment and try to take over one the studios and just turn into just a powerlifting room/studio.Still wouldn't be dick if you left them there for as long as you're a member so long as the owner is cool with it. And if he wouldn't be cool with it then he's the dick lol. J/K
I am sure many gyms only agree to hold member's equipment as a favor and aren't obliged to do that. Props to those gyms that let members store their own equipment there.Their membership covers the gyms equipment, not yours. Definitely not dick move
Getting the bar too.Shit I just saw this. Not sure if I skimmed over the alert or if it didn't alert me about the tags. Seems that is hit or miss.
I think I've used competition plates before. They felt a lot more dense, and they seemed to fit on the bar a lot closer together.
You know how, especially during deadlifts, the plates wiggle a bit and loosen up the collar. It doesn't make that much of a difference, but you will definitely notice it when you lift with them.
Kind of like how I see the oly bar for the first time for cleans. Damn it was so smooth.
I can't remember if you said you were just getting the plates, or if you were getting a bar too.
If you do get a bar too, I would definitely keep people from using it. The first 10 minutes of all my gym days are spent hunting down 1 of the 2 barbells that aren't fucking bent.
