Thread to end all the broscience on protein intake.

Hey Meso fam. I wanted you guy’s opinions on protein intake.

So much information/broscience going around.

Anyways, research has shown that 0.8g of protein/lb of LBM (important part being LEAN body mass) is suffice for building muscle.

Personally, I get anywhere from 1-1.2g per lb of bodyweight.

How about you guys?

I can tell you right now this won’t be the end all of bro science on protein intake.
There are too many variables involved including body mass, personal goals, amount used on cycle, on trt, being natty, age, sex.
There isn’t and never will be a right or wrong amount. It also personal preference!!

There is also a new study that daunte trudal linked on his Facebook showing that you build more muscle the more you eat. Study never found the upper limit. So there are always going to be differences in opinion.

But the bottom line is you should start with the least that allows you to build muscle and as you plateau, add more. This is a time tested simple approach that works 100% of the time and leaves you room to grow.

Protein Is the hardest of the macros to store as fat and has the highest thermic effect.

Like anything else. Progressive training, cardio and diet :)

Good thread, I see a new product based on beef protein drink having more protein / gram than the more common whey etc.

My local abbatoir spent million on a processing plant to extract the last percent of protein that was formerly non-extractable waste. Food producers from primary products are extremist when it comes to the concept of waste - they can not live with such a concept.

Each extraction from raw carcase costs more and yields less protein.

I can tell you I shoot for 1lb per day at minimum. When I go north of that I continue to I generally recover better till about the 1.5 range but I can't always hit that mark depending on the day. It doesn't seem to do much if I go higher than 1.5 other than I'm assuming be used as just another calorie.
