TL/DR - Eat more (First cycle bulking help)

Would like some help on this cycle and bulk please:

44M, 6 foot/183 cm, skinny fat with not a lot of muscle all my life. Hopped on TRT in 2024 and went 100% on diet and training including weighing and logging all food.

End April 2025 I was 78kg and I really wanted to push a proper cut. Did 1,950 calories per day and by early July I was 155 lbs/70.5 kg with visible abs for the first time in my life. Slowly reversed out of the cut adding 100 calories approx until I got to 2,350 calories which seemed to be my maintenance or close to it (maybe a bit under).

Started my first blast on September 1, 350 mg Test C dosed 50 mg daily, same day I increased calories to 2,900 as I figured this was around a 500 calorie surplus. Macros were 240P, 318C, 70F. Weight was around 70 kg/154 lbs.

First week weight average was 70.2 kg, week 2 was 70.6 kg. So up 1.5 lbs approx after 2 weeks. I was a bit surprised as I read a lot and everyone said I should gain a couple pounds in the first couple of weeks due to water and glycogen. So after week 2 I increased calories to 3,100 - 240P, 368C, 70F.

Week 3 average weight was 71.1, week 4 average was 71.6, week 5 average was 72.4. So in 5 weeks now I was up approx 2.5 kg/5 lbs.

Added 200 more calories with carbs for week 6 because I felt stronger and a bit fuller but didnt look like I lost any definition in my abs, just a bit maybe, and thought I wasnt pushing the caloires hard enough. Week 6 my average weight is 72.6 kg so only up 0.2 kg and that was after adding those 200 calories. So for week 7 I am going to add another 200 calories to push it to 3,400 - 3400. 240P, 443C, 70F.

I guess this is what I am supposed to be doing but does it seem strange to anyone that I have now increased calories 1,000 over what I thought was my maintenance? I want to make the most out of this bulk but of course dont want to over gain.
