Too much fat in the diet?

I have been eating alot of
- egg yolks
-regular greek yogurt
-fish
-coconut milk
-nuts and seeds
-peanut butter
-hemp seeds ( high in fat)
-olive oil

These foods have been making up a large percentage ( in terms of calories) in my diet. I have an easier time getting calories up when I eat foods like these. Am I eating too much fat and is this unhealthy? Thanks

Pretty vague, can you give daily amounts of each or total daily fat intake?

Yes, on average about 50-55% of my diet has been coming from fat. Since the foods are considered pretty healthy, I am not sure if I am getting too much fat or is it ok?

high fat diets are fine as long as your insulin level remains below 5. You have to monitor you carbs even more on a high fat diet. The paleo diet is very high fat and their are hundreds of hunter gather cultures world wide who use a high fat diet.

If you do you should be avoin\ding PUFA's and substitute it with MCT's due to the inflammatory effects of PUFA and lipid perioxidation. They are worse than glycation by fructose even if most of the lay public and docs are clueless about it.

beta oxidation is far more fuel efficient than carbohydrate metabolism ATP wise.......so its also better for anabolic effects. After muscle are laid down and UCP in skeletal muscle fxnal than you can add more carbs.......but staying with fats and proteins is fine as long as you understand that Long chain FA and MCT Fatty acids need to make up the bulk of the fats.........PUFA cant. An Americans live off off PUFA because of bad advice from docs who still buy the Ancel Keys doctrines that have been largely rejected.

The lipid hypothesis for cardiac disease is just about over.

I was going to say that a diet high in MUFAs and PUFAs is fine as long as you keep carb in take low.A good way to get fat is to have high carbs{+insulin} with high fats.
But I think thats what Cends just said, in a fancy dangle way.

*MUFAs Mono unsaturated fatty acids
PUFAs Poly '''''''''''''''

40% fat, 30% protein, 30% carbs seems to work

You could also try switching carb and fat percentages

For who Rosie O'Donnell? First of all, your percentages add up to 120, not 100.

200lb athlete on maintenance diet:
300g protein (1.5g per pound of body weight)
200-400g carbs daily (carbs are flexible as peoples bodies react differently)
100g fat (this is the high end of the scale, I wouldn't go below 70g)

All IMHO

The human body uses fatty acids to do everything from building cell membranes to performing key functions in the brain, eyes, and lungs. The functions of fats include:

1.Brain – Fats compose 60% of the brain and are essential to brain function, including learning abilities, memory retention and moods. Fats are especially important for pregnant women, since they are integral to fetal brain development.
2.Cells – Fatty acids help your cells stay moveable and flexible, as well as being responsible for building cell membranes.
3. Heart – 60% of our heart’s energy comes from burning fats. Specific fats are also used to help keep the heart beating in a regular rhythm.
4.Nerves – Fats compose the material that insulates and protects the nerves, isolating electrical impulses and speeding their transmission.
5.Lungs – Lung surfactant, which requires a high concentration of saturated fats, enables the lungs to work and keeps them from collapsing.
6.Eyes – Fats are essential to eye function.

Good fats are very important indeed. All to often they are cut out of the BB's diet, especially when they are cutting. I have a good friend whos regularly in Muscular Development magazine, and hes said a million times good fats burn bad fats, I realize thats oversimplified, but truth it hes 4% BF and eats Adams PB all day long!

Ya that is right that fats are very important for different types of our organs which you have described here but too fat is also causes problem for our health. So we have to take limited fat in our diet which is good for our health.
