Torn open callus won't heal

Wondering if any of you have had this type of thing happen?

I have a callus where my middle finger connects to my hand. It's a pretty thick callus.

Last month I was doing heavy dumbbell shrugs and it split open. It didn't bleed but this was like a month ago and it won't heal back up. The skin where it split is very pink/almost an open cut. It's stayed this way for weeks now and hasn't callused up.

All the skin around the split is a callus and I think it's preventing it from healing. Of course working out with it is adding to the mix but this has never happened to me before. My hands if I'm starting out toughen up and callus up fast.

I've been sucking it up obviously so I'm not complaining it hurts lol but damn what can I do to heal this damn thing? Do I have to remove the entire callus or what?

So I should grind the callus down and that'll allow it to heal finally?
It seems like the callus itself is stopping the healing process and when I train the bar hits the callus not the split part so it never gets the stimulus to toughen up. But on almost every exercise it gets stretched open. Like on lat pull downs it just opens and tears at the split.

I been sticking triple antibiotic in it at night when I sleep so I don't get infected.

Agree. Definitely have to grind that bitch down. I use goldbond medicated lotion it works very well also to keep the skin soft. I used to have this happen all the time deadlifting. Same routine I’d have to grind it down and avoid some exercises for a week and give it time to repair itself. Otherwise like you’ve said almost everything will rip it back open and it’s a bitch.
