You can get ear guards if your worried about colliflower ears. I have some on my left ear. Fuck it. Some guys get it, some dont. It's been kinda funny keeping track of the body parts that are sore.
I've got almost everything from head to toe .
A couple days ago we practiced escape from triangles. My ears hurt. Kept waking up when I slept on my side.
I never kept track, but if I had to guess I’d say maybe 1 in 10 people who come to a trial class are still doing to after a year.I started going during a free trial promo.

well... I'm already dealing with my first injury. about a month ago I had some sloppy attempt at a jumping guard that had me land flat on my back. knocked the wind outa me a little, but no big deal. I had a nagging ache in my lower flank that persisted, thought I bruised a kidney or something.
Well a few day ago we were working on some fundamentals, passing guard into side control. I paired up with a guy that was about 250#.
Everything was good, he was being as gentle as a big guy could be with the drills. I made the mistake of suggesting that when he gets to side control that he should put all of his weight on my chest, like we always do in side control. I guess all of his weight was enough to finish messing up the rib that I bruised with the fall on my back.
It was a sharp pain in the ribs, almost thought I had kidney stone. The odd thing is, I tried to treat it like a cramp and rolled around on a foam roller and a medicine ball to loosen it up. Today Ive got the discomfort, extreme pain to sneeze, and a rib that I can make click by holding my breath and squeezing.
Chiro says itll be six weeks to heal, I hope she is wrong.
Im gonna try some bpc157 peptide to see if it speeds it up
I popped my rib twice in the past. It hurt like a bitch. I took about 6 weeks to fully heal, but I was back after 2 weeks. I agree about just drilling until you feel you can roll again. Then you can just flow roll. Dont miss class unless you really have to. It sucks ,but it's part of the game unfortunately.well... hey guys,
my town finally has a little jiu jitsu gym.
did my first class yesterday and had an awesome time.
we must have rolled for an hour.
so I'm 49 and was the most gassed ive been since hunting season. totally kicked my butt.
i think i will learn to be more efficient with my energy, but for now it wears me out.
how do you guys that roll mix in your weight training?
how many days per week should I give to jiu jitsu to make good progression?
I'm content maintaining my muscle mass at 200lb 5ft11 and 14%
i don't compete, just lift for fun and mental health.
I’ve already had one knee surgery because of BJJ, and have a torn ACL that will eventually need surgery. It really is bad on the legs. But it’s the thing I like most so I’m willing to do through it.Leg injuries is why I had to quit bjj... couldn't afford to have fucked up knees and ankles before getting my permanent job. I trully miss rolling and drilling.
Once I get my permanent job, I'll be back on the mat for sure. Won't really care about injuries at that point.I’ve already had one knee surgery because of BJJ, and have a torn ACL that will eventually need surgery. It really is bad on the legs.
