2 K sounds high to me Grizz. But I'm a little more basic than most. Here is a basic setup.....
Rack - $300. Get a good one. I had a $100 one and it was too narrow, thus bent the bar I had. See Susan at Midwest barbell and she'll get you the one I reference.
Bar - $200. Same as above. Get a good one. Those chrome ones that come in any 300lb. weight set just won't hold up. I'm only in the 500's with my wieghts, and the damn thing could be confused for a bow now.
Weights - $100 per 300 lbs. Buy those 300lb Olympic sets from any sporting goods store, and throw the bar out. It will be the cheapest this way, as used weights cost you .50/lb, and shipping charges will kill you if you find a deal by ordering new ones.
Flooring - $30 Go to a Farm and Fleet store and find those mats that horses stand on. cut one in half and use it to protect your garage floor.
Adjustable Bench - Your choice here.
Dumbells - Not necessary, but if you buy them, get the OLY handles so that you can use the weights you already have.
So that's about $800 or so. There is of course Ebay as well, and that could cut that cost in half. The other option is to see a local high school or college. They sometimes have things they can part with. What's your gym membership running you?
