trap problem :(

My left trap is getting noticibly larger then my right. I think this is due to me using a mixed grip on deads. I don't train my traps directly. So to fix this do you guys think I should 1. try to use the opposite mixed grip on deads or 2. just start training my right trap directly? any suggestions?

Using a mixed grip on deads caused a very noticable difference on my lower back. The left side is a lot thicker and stronger than the right side. Now i perform deads with the opposite mixed grip and it seems to be working pretty good but it feels kinda uncomfortable.

Anyway, when it comes to the traps, i guess one sided training could work as well but then you would probably have strength imbalances.

PS: It's normal for all people to have a bigger and stronger side. If you keep an eye on it though it can't get bad or very noticeable at least.

I train mine directly. I would take Reinhearts advice and try the opposite mixed grip. That should balance you out. Good luck bro.

Yeah I had the same issues, because of my work I do alot of centerdrilling/machining ect so my right forearm/shoulder is over developed compared to the left side. What I did with deads is to do all three warmup sets, and when I do burnouts I always use the opposite mixed grip as my heavier sets. When I go real heavy on deads though I cant use the opposite mixed grip its just way too weird feeling and tweaks my left shoulder.

You could try an overhand grip with straps , if your not training for a show. You will be able to use more weight and get more reps with the straps.
