What did you guys think of the card?

I lost a decent chunk of change thinking Florian would outclass Maynard. There have been lots of takedowns in the last few events and I think takedown defense will become the most emphasized aspect of the sport for the next little while for non-wrestlers.

I was relieved to see Couture manhandle Toney. However, Toney is probably just laughing his way to the bank.

Edgar/Penn was pretty much a repeat of their first encounter. I've never been a huge BJ Penn fan but I was still a little disappointed to see that his approach remained pretty much the same.

1) pretty good, but not as memorable as some recent cards.
2) that n from-the-back submissions, which r oldest-school bjj...
3) r they gonna be able to understand him there?
4) actually Edgar was far more energetic and comfortable here. the domination was much more complete, up to n including after the last bell when BJ turned his nose at embracing Edgar, n Edgar patted n rubbed the top of BJ's head in response, as if BJ were an unruly but beloved child.

I thoroughly enjoyed this card. Watching James Toney get embarrassed for the whole boxing world to see. Don't get me wrong I am a huge boxing fan, but I am a little sick and tired of there boxers running their mouth about MMA because boxing is dying and MMA is booming. They are 2 complete different sports.

That being said, Maynard is a badboy. You always have to give an edge to a great wrestler with good standup. He can defend the takedown, strike well, and best of all take people down and gain positional dominance and impose his will. Florian is a great fighter but I didnt see him taking that one.

As for the BJ Penn fight, if I wasnt broke I would have put every single dollar I had on Franky Edgar to win that fight. The last fight BJ couldnt catch him or do anything really at all. I didnt see it changing much. It seems like (with the exception of Jens Pulver) anyone who beats BJ once ends up beating him again, and WORSE the next time.
