I believe it. They only care about themselves. If i could get away with kicking the shit out of my old boss, believe me,i would be at his door,in a heartbeatJamesT said:For Six miserable years I worked as a Home Depot Store Manager, once your salary you are FUCKED. I worked 21 days straight, 100+ hr a week. Finally my mom was going in to surgery, mom grandma died, my great grandma died, so I asked my DM for one day off and he said no. So I said fuck this and took it off anyway and they fired me for not being dedicated to the job and that it was my problem that choose family first......Can you beleive this shit. I hired an attorney and there absolutly nothing I could do because in CA. they have "at will" clause in which they don't need a reason to terminate sombody.....
BTW, I was 24 years old, one of the youngest in the company at that position...
500 bucks a YEAR? That's crazythick said:that really sucks. Salary can be a hose job. My buddy got a "promotion" where he is in charge of a division for MUSCO. That promotion gave him about 500 bucks a year more for 20 hours a week more work and shitloads of stress. He is going to have to switch departments or do something b/c now he hates his job and it is hurting his marriage

I will tell you what really sucks is the company I work for has laid off 40,000 people and you cant even get a job at a starbucks coffee shop for $8.00 with out a 4 or 6 year degree!!! NOW THAT SUCKS.JamesT said:Endo, I hear ya, but at least you got paid for those 400 hrs.. I put in 60-80 a week and my pay check was always the same![]()

or that.... the problem with that is your still working for someone and no matter how high you are in the company, your always expendable.... you have to work THEIR hours, take THEIR drug tests, dress according to THEIR dress codes, use THEIR medical coverage... OK you got me on that one,but i'd rather pay for my own and have PEACE OF MINDHogg said:Tell him to get his ass back to school and buy some nice suits so that he can become one of those fat pigs.
MANWHORE said:Well, you know how hard it is to make that coffee.... It's not like the old days anymore, where you could be president of a large company without a highschool diploma. Everyone wants to see some type of degree. The hell with working to make someone else money. The only way your going to make decent money is to work for yourself or go to school long enough, and,if you go to school long enough, you'll spend the next 10yrs paying for it

Companies care about money. I've seen plenty of people, who've done great jobs, get laidoff, because they were making too much money, and companies don't want to worry about pension,if they don't have too, either. Just because someone does a great job, doesn't mean he/she isn't replacable for less money. I don't think it's a good idea to have to many attachments to anyone. Company pensions aren't guaranteed,medical/dental insurance. You always need to be able to move from job to job without hurting your lifestyle. Nurses, doctors, lawyers, ect are all great things to go to school forHogg said:But that is the challenge, if you are good at what you do, you are not expendable. The bottom line is the bottom line. If you generate revenue on a consistent basis, you are a backbone player. If you are a part of overhead, you're definitely expendable. The man on the front lines who is spearheading the deal team is a very valuable man.

Yeah,i like the oldschool boys driving up high on those tractors with the piece of straw hanging from their mouths. Those guys always had some big forearms. I had a friend in the Corp who used to pick watermellons and his arms were big as hell. He looked like a crab with the big arms and no chestthick said:NO shit. that is what he should do. Problem is that you need to inherit the equip. and land to make it big. Some of these faggots dont even have to work hard now b/c their daddy and granddaddy paid off the land and equip. and they got it handed to them. They spend most of their time acting like they are working hard every day with no vacation. Somehow there fathers did the same work w/o fourwheelers and farm hands. Spoiled i tell ya

I am counting on those Mexicans to work for me when i get my own shopHogg said:Yes, that is correct, all companies care about is money....if you are a part of the revenue chain- ie, sales/marketing or executive-level management - and are consistently bringing business in the door, you are far from expendable.
Pension? Hah! What decade are you living in? Its called 401k and 403b now friend.....it is called - the employee needs to save and invest for his/her future. The days of employer paid pensions are about gone....except perhaps if you are a union worker....and if you are, there are 17 million mexicans on their way here to take your job.
Its a shit sandwich dont get me wrong, and I feel for those poor bastards who are pouring concrete and erecting steel for a living ....but the picture that I painted is the reality. You will eventually have burroughs in every major metropolitan area where the working class lives and the white devil will live on the outskirts of town ....making his trek every day to the office to manage the working poor.....
