Upgrading my home brewing

Hey guys, new here.

I have had the cheap lab equipments for a while, I was looking to do an upgrade of like 2-3k to upgrade my whole "lab".

What do you guys suggest are a bit more expensive and better equipments for our cooking?

Cheers!

I like my autoclave, it helps to sterilize all tools involved without question.

I also like a vac/pump for doing the filtering - set it up and let it go, fuck hand pressing / caulking guns.

how much did u pay on ur autoclave bro?

the vac/pump is a good idea too

I paid full price because I work in an industry that requires it (body modification).

But they can be had on ebay cheap. Little pointer - pick up the bacterial test, do a dry run, and even if it comes back dirty, just replace the seals and you have a perfect autoclave for a couple hundred dollars.

Vac pump - I paid 200$ new, used they can be had cheap on ebay too.

Thats not bad at all, very much within my budget, anything else that you consider buying?

Depends on which carrier oil you are using - look at the smoke point for the oil. If you breach smoke point, your oil begins breaking down rapidly.

To safely sterilize without making your oil go rancid, 15 mins @ 12 to 15lbs of pressure (100 to 105 Celsius) is lab grade sterilization. 150c is pushing it, especially at an hour.

Going higher that 105c serves no purpose since the only thing still living above that is endospores - and they won't die off until you get much higher and the oil is ruined. Filtering is one way to rid of spores, or using BA will keep the endospores from germinating - that and oil isn't the proper medium for endospore germination.

I'm a biology rat so if that doesn't make sense, I'll try to explain it differently.

Edit - if you are using ovens and not an autoclave, none of what I said above applies. Pressure is why 15 mins is thorough sterilization. I know a lot of people use ovens around here, so you generally need a higher temp at a longer heat time to make sure sterilization is effective.

r u trying to show off? i dont get it.. the question wasn't directed at you, and it is outside the budget that I specified....

Have been looking at the bottle top dispensers for a while, little expensive, was thinking of using the 10ml pipettes for dispensing, anyone used these before?? Thnks
