Use the microwave instead of hot plate

Even doing a 500ml batch at >250mg/ml this makes it go fast. It's my house but I have similar family concerns. This and a thermometer is the bomb. I also have a cheap set of magnetic stir bars for large or small batches and thick or thin carriers. This comes with one or two as I recall.

I use a millipore bottle top inside a cabinet and just check it periodically. Stealthy enough
