USPlabs Jacob Geissler and OxyElite Pro story in USA Today

USPlabs CEO Jacob Geissler is the subject of an investigative article by Alison Young of USA Today. Young explores Geissler's steroid conviction and multiple run-ins between USPlabs and the FDA and the connection between its product OxyElite Pro and the multiple cases of severe liver injury in Hawaii.

In July, under pressure from the FDA, USPlabs destroyed $8 million worth of OxyElite Pro and Jack3d supplements that contained DMAA... Even though it reformulated its products, USPlabs maintains that DMAA is a safe and natural compound.

Earlier this month, the FDA issued another warning letter to USPlabs accusing the company of improperly using another new ingredient — called aegeline — in the reformulated version of OxyElite Pro and VERSA-1.

The compound, scientific literature shows, has been documented in parts of the Bael tree, which grows in Southeast Asia...

The "importance of establishing that products containing aegeline will reasonably be expected to be safe ... is particularly important" given the current outbreak of severe liver illnesses being investigated in Hawaii and other states, the FDA said in its Oct. 11 warning letter. The FDA said several findings "suggest a causal connection may exist" between the illnesses reported in Hawaii and consumers taking OxyElite Pro.

haha do people realize when you abuse something you will have very negative effects? obviously not...that't why they blame the product and not on their own stupidity...it's your responsibility as a consumer to know what your doing..the company isn't going to hold your hand idiots

I'm lucky enough to be real friendly with one of the higher up of USPlabs. He's a member of another board I belong to. I've known him a few years now but only learned about the USPlabs position about a year about a year ago.
I don't remember how we started talking about supps but I've been out of touch with that shit since they banned the ripped fuel from Twin Labs and the Muscle Tech Hydroxycut. He asked if I had ever tried the original oxyelite and Jackd3d. I hadn't and I told him so.
The company didn't destroy all the shit with DMAA because I recently acquired some that was sent to me from a company warehouse.
The stuff had me feeling stuck like a motherfucker. Some of you know what I mean by "stuck"....some won't. If you don't you're not mssing anything.

The FDA has been having a field day going through and harassing supplement companies. What happened to Primordial was such a shame, I would hope it doesn't happen with USPLabs. These guys have been at it long enough to know what happens when they come under scrutiny, that's why they designed their products in a specific and documented manner.

The FDA should be sued 100x more than it already is. It's not just these two companies, all of the supplement industry is threatened by these bastards.
