weird injury

I got what feels like a pulled hamstring but I didn't get it from lifting. I got it from a cramp I got in my leg about 3-4 hours after deadlifting on friday night. I woke up in the middle of the night to take a piss and as soon as I stood up and took a couple steps my entire right quad and hamstring cramped up so bad I couldn't even move. It was probably the most pain I had been in in a while. After the pain subsided (like 5-10 mins) I went back to bed and the next mourning and all day yesterday and today my hamstring feels like I pulled it and I'm limping.
How should I treat this? Think it would be ok to train my upper body? Does this sound serious?

I actually snapped my hamstring{partial}
Whilst doing dumbbell presses on a flat bench. When I stood up after a set it snapped like a twig{that;s what it sounded like!}.
At the time I was taking creatine mono, when it first come out on the market.
I was over dosing and experiencing a lot of cramping.
My hamstring came out with blood and bruising after a day or two.
Perhaps yours has a strain from the intense cramp.
I'd try lightly stretching it for a while to see how it feels and if you can loosen it up slowly.
These pesky little injury's and be a nuisance.

Sounds like a muscle strain or pull from the cramp.
This is a rule of thumb on how you should treat pulls and strains.
If its bad, Ice it for the first 72 hrs, then heat starting on day 4 with mild stretching on day 4.

As far as training other muscles; if there is pain, don't do it.
Take a few days off and ease back into it.
Do not train the injured muscle for at least a week, you must go by feel.
There is no exact / precise way to go about this. It has more to do with common sense
than rigid set guidelines.

Prodigy, You may want to try this liquid potassium made from sea salt, I take it when I am on clen and never cramp, works much better then banannas for me. If I can find the link I'll send it to you. Good stuff!
