What gauge did you use? How long did it take?

I used a 16g. It was very easy to do. Hell all i did was stick it in, put the cup up next to it, sat back an watched tv for about 15mins an it was full.

I got to admit this takes some brass balls to do, and I had once thought of doing this myself but just ended up going to blood drives to donate so that my blood gets put to good use.

Id rather go to one as well but couldn't get to one, so i improvised lol

Unfortunately, if you go to donate and your RBC is high, you get banned from donating. Happened to me so this is the only option. First time is a little hairy but ive done it so many times now that its like clipping my nails, easy peasy!!

I'd recommend attaching a barrel to that needle and pulling the plunger out completely. That way you can aim where the blood goes and not make your house look like a murder scene.

Thanks for the low down on the 56days. So pretty much every 2mths then sounds good enough for me. I tried it a few times with a smaller pin but could only get a few drops oit before the pin hole clogged up with blood.

You sure? Here they test haemoglobin via fingerprick test before a donation, and if it's too low you can't donate. Haematocrit/RBC volume is not tested pre-donation.

Finger prick here. They mainly check for under the limit... But I've gone in and been high, I think it's 57 here . She literally tested every finger until it read in range...kinda cool.

Will or does hydration matter? If you were to super hydrate would it drop the RBC count?

Correct. Hemo under 13 or over 20 and you get deferred by the Red Cross here in the states.

Positive, it happened to me last time i tried to donate about year and a half ago. I think i was either at 20 or 20.5 cant remember.
Told me to go to the doc and check if i have polycythemia. Said if i can bring in proof that i dont have a disease that causes high RBC
Then MAYBE i might be able to donate, however she said that very rare and unlikely. So i self drain now
