What do you think of this... (Static holds)

Q: Is it really the case that holding the weight, or pressing against a meter is the same to a muscle as moving a weight through a full range of motion.

A: No one has yet proven with certainty exactly what part of the workout stimulates muscle growth. But Explosive Fitness observed by mathematical analysis of all data, including the Static Contraction and Power Factor studies that have now been done on hundreds of people, that the key to muscle growth appears to be to stimulate the Fast Glycolytic muscle cells. Nothing else seems to matter. Using a full range of motion is a very inefficient way to do that. You have to first exhaust all other muscle cells then finally during those last two reps of extreme effort you always hear about the Fast Glycolytic cells are activated. With Static Contraction Training those cells, and the ultra high intensity, come into play immediately by using all out effort in the strongest range of motion.

so what this is saying is that the only thing that counts to grow muscle is anything after complete falure! I dont beleive that for one second yeah it a great therey but what kind of study was this. ManWhore do you have more info on this i would like to read it. thanks
later.

Statics.

Static holds may have their place, but it takes more than tension to encourage hypertrophy. Movement under tension is the key.

I use static holds or static reps (short 2-3 inch reps) in all of my exercises at the end of a particular exercises followed by extreme stretching of the given muscle.....and I feel that they have helped tremendously.

i think static movements are good but should be added here and there into training programs...the problem with static holds is you dont recruit all the muscle fibers...only the ones your using in that specific range...however static holds are excellent once you find out where your sticking point is...you can use holds in that range to help focus on those muscle fibers.
I agree that static holds shouldn't be the base of the workout do to flexibilty, pump, ect but i don't agree on the """the problem with static holds is you dont recruit all the muscle fibers...only the ones your using in that specific range""" Muscle fibers are recruied independent of their location in the muscle for any given ROM

Static holds and partial reps.... yes,but your using them after a workout when your muscles are already exhausted,i'm talking.... or rather they're talking about static holds with max weight from the start of the exercise. The way your doing them is great too,i use them that way too
