I am trying to plan out my first foray into the 5x5 program and was wondering what some of you guys use for planning it out. Maybe just use a calendar and write it out or does anyone use a program of some kind?

thanks

I don't get it. What do you mean? The plan is already laid out. All you need to do is keep a training log and make sure you are adding weight each week.

Some of us have a tendancy to overcomplicate things.

I meant the training log. For some reason i didn't say that and made it seem more complicated. but that spreadsheet from Beefster is what i meant. thanks

For the very type A, I will say that one of the nice benefits of Excel is that you can very easily keep track of information. Beyond a journal you can have the sheet calculate the total weekly load on a per lift basis (summing for total load) - even cutting out all reps performed below a cutoff i.e. anything under 60% or some such if you are ramping weights set to set on a given exercise. This allows you to track load over a period but also see how your workload has improved over time, or design a different program but try to hold the load (total or just the squat for instance) within given parameters. Easy graphs too!

I use the spreadsheet attached. Basic and simple.
Nice chart. I was going to suggest the same thing but yours looks much purder than mine. I use one for food also. :)

Thanks for the xls, but you forgot the rows on friday.

Actually I didn't. The spot for rows on Friday is open for an entry. The attached .xls was just partially filled in on the first block and shaded as if it were a completed week to show a sample week.
