The domain name registration expired a couple of days ago and my guess is that it lapsed before it was renewed. And now that it's been renewed, it will be up again soon.
Is ab gone? If you try to go to the site it instead directs you to a black webpage with misc info. Have guys lost money waiting on packs? Just wondering wtf happened.

In my experience, that usually only happens when the owner isn't a marketing guy. They hire web designers/marketers to do everything for them and then when it breaks or something happens, they scramble to try to get a login or can't get a hold of their web guy. The best is when they decide they don't need the web guy anymore after he builds everything for them. Then when everything falls apart, they are begging for the web guy to fixed it. No problem, at 3x the cost 
If they are a marketing person, they would know that Domain Expiration is one of 100 signals in Google's ranking algorithm. If your domain is expiring in less that two years, you should renew it for 5 more years. SEO is alive and well.
