What specific movements are considered rough on the body

Even if proper form is utilized, what exercises would you all say are a little rough on the bones?? Like your back, knees.....

The Russian Twist (with loaded bar on shoulders) puts torque and compression on the spin, very bad. When I am training people I never give that to them. I also don't recomend sissy squats to novices', I myself do them, but unweighted. That's about all I can come up with off the top of my head, maybe I'll be able to think of some more while I'm not paying attenting to my professors in class today. Take care.

Nothing behind the neck. And no olympic lifts(as if I could). You don't see many old olympic lifters.

I agree and disagree. I believe both should be taken on a per person basis. Many people can handle rear presses where many cannot, some can with free weights and some can only with a smith machine. If you are into athletics, olympic lifts are a staple, however make sure to use proper form, and gear. NEVER sacrifice proper form for weight in any of these type lifts.

Very true. I was speaking long term. I don't know of any heavy lifters that have been at it for 10-20 years that still do these lifts.

Did you miss the Olympics or something? They've all been at it 10+ years.
True again. Yet I have still not seen a 40+ year olympic lifter in any gym I have trained at in the last 15+ years. And lets not forget Ted Arcidi doing 405 behind the neck presses. But I didn't se that either in real life. Do you have many old olympic lifters where you train?

Shit! LOL I'm the only person who does olympic lifts(or anything even close) where I train at. I've got a lot of old people, though. LOL
