I work 12am to 8am right now, and sleep during the day. Should I get my blood drawn for testosterone, right after waking up (around 6pm)? Doctor says before 10am, but he’s unaware of my sleep schedule.

I do want to compare to a previous test. Last time, I got it done at 9am, because I had just woken up. But now I’m working a different shift.Time doesn't matter much so long as it's fasted.
Other than that, the only way time of day really plays a role is when comparing your personal bloodwork to another set of your personal bloodwork. Meaning you want to try and get your bloodwork done around the same time, each time.
I think you should be fine even with that considered.I do want to compare to a previous test. Last time, I got it done at 9am, because I had just woken up. But now I’m working a different shift.
At Kaiser they only test for total test. I’m also looking at lipids, but that’s just to make my doc happy. I don’t give a shit about LDL or HDLI think you should be fine even with that considered.
What values are you most interested in comparing?
Timing can matter depending on what you are looking for in your results. If you can, get bloods first thing in the morning or if working alternating shifts, as soon after waking up as you can.I do want to compare to a previous test. I’m legit just trying to put a number on a scoreboard for myself in regards to test. I’ve been doing a dozen natural things to boost it and I want proof that it’s working. My last test was done at a normal time, after waking up. This time I might just do it around 6pm, after waking up. Hopefully it’s not jacked up by a lessened quality of sleep or somethingActually timing does matter. The reason would be for optimal total test levels. Doctors will normally have you test first thing in the morning as your test levels will be at their highest.
If you aren't really worried about showing your optimal total t and you are just interested in other health markers then timing is not a concern in my opinion.
Sounds like a plan to me. If you have been on this time schedule for a while now, you are still doing what is normally suggested which is drawing blood as soon as you can after waking up.I’m legit just trying to put a number on a scoreboard for myself in regards to test. Awesome. I appreciate it.Sounds like a plan to me. If you have been on this time schedule for a while now, you are still doing what is normally suggested which is drawing blood as soon as you can after waking up.
its a possibility.lessened quality of sleep or something
Less than a week. I rotate shifts often, almost weekly. Hard to explain. But I just came off a month long vacation with excellent sleep and have been doing this graveyard shift for like 4 days.its a possibility.
how long have you been on that shift?
any possibility of just putting off your bloodwork until your are back on a normal shift?Less than a week. I rotate shifts often, almost weekly. Hard to explain. But I just came off a month long vacation with excellent sleep and have been doing this graveyard shift for like 4 days.
If you think that’s best, I will wait until I have a day off, which is like, this weekend. No problem.any possibility of just putting off your bloodwork until your are back on a normal shift?
yeah seems like thats going to be the best way to get the most accurate results. If you think that’s best, I will wait until I have a day off, which is like, this weekend. No problem.
okay, I’ll wait till I have a day off with a normal day of sleep. Last test I took I was low, at like 450. Hoping to be in the 700s now, with the literal shopping bag of supps I take.yeah seems like thats going to be the best way to get the most accurate results.
i wouldnt expect anything insane from supplements, a lot of them are grossly overrated and the few that do seem to work only do so marginally.okay, I’ll wait till I have a day off with a normal day of sleep. Just reading this ages later, does it matter when during the week you get the bloods? So like I pinned Saturday morning (today) so what day this week would be optimal for the best results? I know if I get them done Monday my test levels will be higher maybe then Friday. (Next pin is Tuesday night). Am I reading too much into this?Time doesn't matter much so long as it's fasted.
