Who here is on keto and how are you liking it?

My understanding is that the body prefers the path of least resistance. In this case it prefers to use sugar for fuel if available.

I️ also believe that if sugar is removed and one forces their body to go into ketosis. Depending on the ratio of protein to fat. There will always be some gluconeogenisis still occurring. To what extent based on time and amount will depend again to the ratio of protein to fat. I️ don’t think one process completely eliminates or shuts down the other necessarily.

I can agree with that. But there would be a pretty large varying degree of gluconeogensis to ketone utilization. When your body goes into survival mode, it will put certain processes into overdrive. If you force it to prioritize gluconeogensis by using protein for energy, it won’t synthesize protein for building tissue and you’re hindering your progress. You also won’t be burning your fat stores for energy. The OP was circled around ketosis and this diet you are going on about is completely different.

As @D-max mentioned, we can go on all day about different macronutrient modifications, but every ratio provides for different reactions and processes in the body. Although a high protein, moderate fat diet may bring its own benefits, it will not bring you to any form of ketosis.

From personal experience. I️ have checked via ketone sticks when on no carb diet and was in ketosis. This lasted about 1 month. I️ had a carb refeed once a week.
Afterwards I️ slowly added less than 50g of carbs only on work out days 3-4 times a week. I️ would check with keto sticks and it still indicated I️ was in ketosis.

I️ know others have had similar experience.

What’s the longest you’ve practiced a ketogenic diet? I was planning on only doing it 8 weeks this go round and then reverse diet by slowly adding 25-50g carbs/week and protein while slowly dropping fat intake. After these 8 weeks I’ll be starting a blast and bulk so I’m just trying to make sure I transition the right way.

4-weeks. Good luck.
