Who here smokes weed?

Are you using recreational drugs?
I don't use it anymore....

But what you are calling rec drugs...

Is not the same as 'Dmt' 'Salvinorin A' or god old 'Lysergic acid diethylamide'....
Just my 2 cents..
They are bloody hard work 'shaman tools' , and these 'May' or 'May' not kick your ass..

I was a pothead for over 20 years, teens through mid-30s. The second half of that time was purely for “medicinal” reasons — insomnia and anxiety (I was an indica girl, I do not get along with sativas.) I used it mainly at bedtime so I could get a good night’s sleep and keep the nightmares away. I ended up quitting (alcohol too) after my boyfriend found himself in jail/rehab/halfway house for alcoholism. My mission was to be as supportive of his recovery as possible, and when he was eventually allowed to come home, there was nothing here that could get him in any trouble. Quitting sucked. I had vivid, awful nightmares for maybe 6-8 weeks but it felt like longer. The urge to self-medicate to avoid those fucking nightmares was intense at first. But once my body fully detoxed and I got used to sleeping without it, I actually found my sleep quality improved a ton. Definitely less groggy in the morning. I could almost pass as a morning person. Despite being that “NO ONE IS EVER GONNA MAKE ME QUIT” girl for half my life, I actually don’t really miss it except when I’m PMSing.

What are the biggest challenges when quitting? Most notable?

Sleep. The inability to.

Normal brain functions become accustomed to the presence of high levels of cannabinoids, and sleep, among other processes become dysfunctional when they're not present. They will return to normal after a while of abstaining, but in the interim the lack of sleep and general miserableness chips away at the willpower to stay off, when just "one hit to get some sleep" is tempting an addict off the wagon.

I smoke my last dab at around 1 PM I wonder if that's really affecting my sleep that bad?

Download PDF for full report.

It should provide some insight.

If you don't want to read the whole thing, starting with the paragraph title below on Page 111, to the end, covers the situation in fairly straightforward language.

"Sleep Disturbance as a Cannabis Withdrawal Symptom"

I avoid smoking a couple hours before sleep … I’ll wake up feeling like I got ran over by an 18 Wheeler if I take my last bong rip too late

I hit a bong for the first time at the beginning of the summer. I was at the neighbors house, barely made it home, got in the door and needed the wife to help me into bed, where I laid for 8 hours until 3am sweating wanting to puke. 1/10 do not recommend

Consider yourself lucky. The amount of adults turning into full blown daytime stoners because they think it's all rainbows and butterflies is staggering.

Any paranoia?
None, I'm a confident person that's done all the drugs at least once so knew I was absolutely ripped and any weird thought I had I just allowed to wash over me.

Was a strange experience though. I didn't know weed could induce fractals. My consciousness split into three distinct segments. What I thought about something, how i felt about something, and what it looked like from these 3rd person view that was orbiting the other two.

I rarely smoke and had never had a bong rip. I was a bit pissed off at the neighbor for not forewarning me that I was going to the moon

1/10

I’ve felt that way before .. I was about 14 years old .. I’d definitely recommend you stay away from the bong and try a joint instead … one puff will do wonders for that type of tolerance … unfortunately for me .. I need like half gram bowl to start my morning upon waking up .. with some strong coffee … wonderful way to walk my dogs

Dorian Yates talks about how weed is very good for athletes. He is right about its benefits.
I play basketball stoned outta my mind and run circles around kids half my age … I’m 44 … there’s so much misinformation about weed it’s crazy …. I know NFL star athletes that smoke as much as I do personally…

all you refer heads stay away from me
theres a reason why they basically legalized it in so many states so quickly, totally turned on a dime politically.

because they want you in your box, only worried about your basic needs, only thinking 1 day at a time, zoned out on technology with your wide open mind open to suggestion like hypnotism.

They were strictly against drugs because we would be susceptible to communism and invasion, a whole country of complacent stoners, at a certain point our government became those invaders and encouraged its use for this purpose.

""And if ever, by some unlucky chance, anything unpleasant should somehow happen, why, there's always soma to give you a holiday from the facts. And there's always soma to calm your anger, to reconcile you to your enemies, to make you patient and long-suffering. In the past you could only accomplish these things by making a great effort and after years of hard moral training. Now, you swallow two or three half-gramme tablets, and there you are. Anybody can be virtuous now. You can carry at least half your morality about in a bottle. Christianity without tears-that's what soma is." - Brave New World
