Who is/was your inspiration?

Thread title.

Who got you started and kept you going? We all have other reasons, but surely, most of us have someone that truly inspired us to start or keep pushing through.

Mine was this fella: Jon Pall Sigmarsson "The Viking"

Him and Bill Kazmaier infected me with the iron bug. Big, strong, unbreakable (to a point as I latter learned, rather harshly I may add).

Later I kept an eye to old(er) people, that "survived" the brutality of strongman/powerlifting training. One of THE nicest persons I met, was Mark Felix, the fucking unit of a man with a grip that can milk water out of rocks.

Mariusz Pudzianowski

Watched him in WSM growing up and was in awe at his blend of strength, athleticism, and powerful looking physique

Frank Zane. His physique had the most symmetry and proportion. When I first saw it as a kid I was like "that's how a man should look" and started lifting weights.

Oh, and the DOOM Slayer. I really like his attitude. lol

Dorion Yates when i was first starting out, and later in life i liked Jay Cutler, Jay is still in phenomenal condition for his age especially considering the abuse he put himself through,,
I never paid much attention to Dorian Yates. I recently watched a documentary on his life and it gave me a new found respect for him. Talk about abuse. You see guys dropping out of competition because their physique isn't quite in point. The guy was wrecked and won the Mr. Olympia with a torn bicep.

A lot of great names and I kinda feel a little ashamed as I can't quote any of the greats of the past bodybuilding eras or strongmen or what have you because it wouldn't be genuine, I was an overly skinny guy and I had no idea of who they were in terms of the sports.

But I have watched those 90's movie growing up with the likes of Van Damme and Stallone's movie and I thought one day I want to look like them.

I started thinking by the age of 30 I want to look that way.

Then the time was passing and one day I was 26 years old 6 ft 1 and 110/120 lbs of weight and it hit me.
If I want to even have a chance to look like that then I better start now.

I joined a gym and the rest is history. That was almost 13 years ago. Time flys.

My brother but not in a good way....watched his health go completely to crap and what it did to his family. His favorite saying was "With lack of exercise and imperfect eating habits, you too can look kike this." He looks like a beached walrus. Dont get me wrong, I love my brother and would do anything for him but I refuse to get like that. Im no.cut up monster but Im in pretty decent shape for my age.

My almost 3 year old. He was born and I realized that I need to make it to his graduation. So i lost a shit load of weight. Going strong now.

Arnold’s 6 rules for success got me through my engineering degree. When things got really bad I would listen to his speech.

1. Trust yourself

2. Break some rules

3. Don’t be afraid to fail

4. Avoid the naysayers

5. Work like hell

6. Give something back

Jesus… tbh… and maybe im in awe of those who compete in mma or can defend themselves and their families…

weight lifters just juice and lose it all and become something different to themselves as well as others… arnold became a governor then shat on everything he had done by making them take his pictures out of the gym… then he screamed “screw ur freedoms… jake the jab” a guy who wanted those same freedoms… yet told all of u to screw ur freedoms…

Most are so super self centered and only care about themselves… even throwing their families to the side out of pure self idiolation(its a word) and self worship… they become their own idols… no thanks… muscle come muscle go…
