I think partially because MSRP reflects a known rebate for electric vehicles. The same doesn’t apply used if I am not mistaken.

Plus, those are all pieces of shit.

BMW i3 looks pretty neat and when you consider the amount of $$ you’ll be saving on gas. It’s a steal.

There are many people who own Chevy volt with over 100k miles without needing to change the battery

I drive about 160 miles round trip for work daily.
I bought a used 2005 honda civic hybrid and if I am easy driving I get 54mpg... no brainer for me.

There are a few issues to consider. I bought a new Civic Hybrid in 2009. Within 6 mos the battery pack was toast. Them sitting around in the hot sun waiting to go to a dealer or sitting on the dealer lot just destroys the batteries. So I recd. a new batt pack under warranty and no issues after that. But when it is time battery packs are not cheap. Anywhere from $1400-$3000 depending on car. The other consideration is how you drive. If its mostly in the city the Prius is the way to go. It is truly all electric but with a 1.8 that will drop your mileage on the highway. If primarily on the highway then the Civic is better with the 1.3 liter. But the civic is only electric back up or assist. There is no full electric mode at least on the 09's. I do not know anything about the others to comment.

2 Not many shops can service or repair electric cars.

3 Electric cars don't compensate for small dicks like SUVs and sports cars do.

Yep, 2 year old 7 series go from $120,000 down to $60,000ish with less than 20,000 miles still in warranty. Same with the Merc S class

Battery replacement for electric cars cost around 2-4 grand. Most electric cars can be driven 100k miles and maintain a good driving range.

I think it's a combination of things.
1. Range
2. Battery replacement
3. Charging availability

I am an oil and gas worker so I am biased. But also I have heard at least here in Canada that if 1 in 3 people switched to an electric vehicle we would crash our electrical grid. Not enough infrastructure in place yet
