True, but illegals don't bitch about not making $55/hr., they don't bitch about not getting 3 weeks vacation time, they are the most dependable workers (and yes, I can attest to this personally), they don't call in and say they are sick when they just want to be lazy.......and the list goes on.

I agree with you bro that immigrants need to go about it the right way and become legal citizens. However, I get sick and tired of hearing Americans bitch about "losing their jobs to foreigners" when in reality they are giving their jobs away by all the bullshit antics they pull.

As an employer of a medium sized business, I personally do not feel obligated to "take care" of the American workers. I don't feel that I "owe" them a job or anything for that matter.

I have 3 guys working for me right now (probably more if I thought about it), whom could be replaced by 1-2 Mexicans in a heartbeat and not miss a beat!!!

All throughout the election everyone bitched and cried about "there aren't any good jobs anymore".....bullshit. There are plenty of good jobs, but no one wants to work anymore. I live in Ohio, the great battleground state that has lost 250,000 jobs, and trust me....there is plenty of work here in OH. Plenty of work!!!

Since when does a job count as a "sacred right"??? No where in the constitution does it say that every American or individual for that matter is entitled to a job.

I just meant that it was our ancestors and fathers that fought and died for this country. There is no illegal immigrant with claims to that. Therefore, I feel it's disrespectful to those who served to not hire the American (who is probably thier son or nephew) for $15/hour, and instead hire the Mexican for $7.50.

I'm in the construction business in the Southeast, and I currently have 14 employees. I pay my guys more than anyone else in the industry, and I'm the only one around my local region who even offers benefits. I don't even speak to Mexicans about work even though I could more than triple profits by replacing my workforce with Mexicans. I'm in business for Americans, and it's worth the extra cost to the consumer, and to me, to get the quality of work we deliver and the added bonus that we only employ Americans.

Like you, I don't hire Mexicans either...even though I get probably 20+ applications every single year. With me it's more the business that I am in. Our industry is pretty regulated by the government and all of our employees are subject to background checks before they can be employed.

I too would love to hire all Americans; however, it is just a simple fact that the illegals will be much more productive.

And I don't support the use of Mexican labor because it's cheap versus paying American workers. I am a firm believer in an honest days pay for an honest days work. I don't however, think that a high school drop out is worthy of $13/hr. to stand in one place and put caps on bottles. That would drive my costs up so high, I'd be out of business. But say if I"m going to pay someone $9/hr. to do this job....I'd much rather have a Mexican because they WILL be more productive.

I don't agree with lowballing Mexicans and paying them $3/hr. I think they too should be paid accordingly.

Caltrans truck shows up and the guy comes in the lobby and sits there. I ask him what the hell he is waiting for? .....and I can guarantee you that each of them got paid for a minimum of 4 hours. Total bullshit.

yea.. you fuckers don't remember the 12 year olds working in the textile mills do ya,, if not for unions most plant workers would earn min- wage. Did you know that unions wrote 98% of all safe work laws,,, did you know that when a car hits the production line at GM the total labor cost is only 1,100, or less till it rolls out the back door. I'm from the south and we don't have many unions but I sure as hell wish we did. Union made products are better quality because its the union workers company to and he wants it to be better and cheaper than the computition. I work for General tire and we are union. Proud and have a good relationship with corporate. If we have to give back,, we give back, if the company has a great year we expect what we earn. We are the back bone of the company and it shows. I have 20 years in and I am on midnight shift, because there is no turnover. You need 25 years or better to have a daylight job there. Oh well I,ve had a couple,, just thought I would spout a little.. oh yea,, almost forgot,, damn a republican,,,,,,

i am all for unions- were else are you going to make 40.00 dollars an hour being an electrician? especially when the contractor you work for is charging 95.00 /hr-and if you are non union he might pay you 16-18 an hour,so you tell me what you would rather be union or non union-

Each individual is responsible for their own actions, but this country has made it too easy to be a lazy son of a bitch. It's so easy to draw a check for unemployment or some fake disability, then get government housing and food stamps and insurance; pretty soon you've got more monthly cash flow by sitting on your ass then you could get working an honest 40 hours a week. Too many Americans are caught up in that.

Simply NOT true...I pay my employees very very well, they take advantage of me every chance they get. They have NO problem milking the overtime, lying about their mileage reports, and taking long lunches.

You are so ignorant you missed my point entirely. The point I was trying to make is that in my area (OHIO...right in the middle of union country), an overwhelming majority of the jobs deemed "undesirable" by the average person must be filled by those whom are typically uneducated. These jobs are usually menial in nature and therefore are not performed by those with a decent education. Thus, just by the nature of the job, they do not demand a high wage.

I think we'd all agree that a kid working at McDonald's is NOT worthy of $20/hr. Why?? BEcause the work does not require a great deal of skill and can be done by anyone.

Now, if there is a high school dropout who has gone to a trade school and develop the skills to make him a good electrician, then by all means, he should be paid accordingly despite his lack of a "formal" education.
