Working out during PCT

Hi,

How do you all workout/recover when starting PCT?

I just starting a 3-week PCT from a light cycle and just bruised a rib -

So it looks like I wont be doing much of anything for a week or two. Am I going to lose most of my gains or is this "forced" rest a good thing while recovering on PCT?

In the past I would just work out once or twice for the first week of PCT and then business as usual (with 20% less volume for remaining weeks).

Just wondering how you all work it...

How did you bruise a rib?

I have broken a rib (ouch) why are you letting a bruised rib interrupt training?

I broke my leg in a JJ tourney (fought in the finals anyway). I was at the gym trained upper body 2 days later.

I had full reconstructive surgery on the left side of my face (I now set of alarms at the airport, lol) was in the hospital a few days, then 4 days later was in the gym.

The real question about pct is volume. I do more sets, double cardio (6 days a week....hard cardio, not that 65% of max hr nonsense) while on gear.

I reduce overall training volume, and cut back cardio to 3 a week. If I need an extra day off I take it. I get plenty of rest, still lift heavy and basic, being careful not to injure myself.

DO NOT STOP TRAINING AND EATING ON PCT.

At best, you will lose all your gains. At worst, you'll lose all your gains and get fat.

best said.... keep the muscles doing what they were doing on cycle and the muscles will have more reason to stick around.

1,000 % agreed.....doing that is like saying you're going to eat nothing but Big Mac's & pizza on non-training days

I train the same as I did on cycle. To me you should try your best to keep the intensity level up. Of course, you're going to lose SOME strength but that is just a part of the ballgame and it doesn't really both me.

I adjust my calorie intake to meet my new maintenace level at my new weight

I think it's fairly common that guys slack off when coming off.

Prob very subconcious. I'm sure I did it back before I knew.

Coming off the bicycle I generally keep my calories at the same level and but separate my training days with cardio/rest days. I always feel much better when I do it that way instead of continuing the same regiment from on cycle.

Also, it helps me to not lose all my motivation.......cant agree more with the guys above, its hard not to slack off during/after PCT but you just cant do it if you want to keep your gains.

I also like to have a new program ,split or goals setup to run alongside my pct protocol as a new means and motivation to keep the game on.
