World Bench Press record... Gene Rychlak (.wmv)

Man, what a freak! That was,,, AWESOME!

Phreez, not that it matters, but about what percentage of that do you think is technique as opposed to strength?

technique with the denim shirts is what its all about. my training partner gets about a 150lb carryover from his denim.

hey phreezer, are you gonna be at the apf meet in april in newark, oh?

I watched that vid about 20 times so far. I can't tell because of the angle of the footage if he's pressing in a straight line or not, but it looks like with his chin tucked and elbows in that hes pressing WS style.

Thats not a denim shirt.

He uses a poly Inzer phenom.

He presses in a straight line. He credits a lot of his training to Louie. Of course I'm ignoring all the drama from the LALC guys.

Gene's crazy, but he's a super nice guy, and really strong. He wears the sunglasses because he has a glass eye.

I've talked to him several times, and this is seriosuly a case where what works for him will absolutely not work for anyone else, so I'm not even going to get into what he does.

But he is super strong.

Look for Mike Miller to do some crazy stuff this next year and Medelson to come out of retirement shortly.

Also, when Gene does a full meet again, he'll set the highest subtotal ever - the guy can squat 1100, and bench 800 right after.
