I would avoid milk personally, the majority of the worlds population are lactose intolerant and generally speaking the people who have lactase persistence are usually Europeans, but for the rest of the world its best to avoid it, jmo.

Which food group is that? lol

mainly the grains that is so high up on the food pyramid lol you can select unprocessed meats and fresh or frozen veggies. to say milk is processed or over processed is wrong I worked at a Dairy and we didn't do much to the milk other than pasteurize the milk and homogenize the milk, so the milk wouldn't separate.

what diet are you choosing to go with? since milk is the death of us all.

This is true... My wife is half black half Native American and her African relatives (the older, more traditional ones at least) will NOT touch cheese. Some of them will also eat all the bones from their chicken. It's kinda crazy to see. I didn't even know you could do that without boiling them down until I met her family

I'm not an expert on this at all HF, but my understanding is that the healthiest populations throughout earths history have been those who primarily ate grains, basically 'higher carb' populations, and that populations that had higher fat had a higher propensity towards health problems / early death.

A lot of people make it seem like carbs are the issue in long term health but anthropologically it seems that the populations that ate primarily grains, legumes, etc had the least health problems and this is a trend that continues to this day.

I could be way off base here but that has always been my understanding. That being said I like having a reasonable amount of fat in my diet, I definitely notice an observable improvement in performance when they are kept at a reasonable/moderate place, but majority of my calories do come from carbs.

I only want to live long enough, that I can get around good. than it is time to exit. I do not buy into what you have read. they have not done any studies on people eating ketosis diets vs high carb diets. I will always eat high protein and high fat with moderate carbs. your hormones are controlled by your fat intake, not by your carb intake. that is something to keep in mind when you are shunning fat. another thing your muscles are built from protein. carbs are just for energy. what else does carbs do?

I agree with this, however the issue comes in when... Like huck said, in today's society the vast majority of carbs consumed are high glycemic processed carbs at a constant rate throughout the day. Where a solid foundation of food is then substituted for the quick "fast food" diet or pre-made dinners and snacks rather than something healthy like you said weighted chin-up, like nuts and/or veggies or fruit. It's such a hard thing to compare because of what's readily available in today's society as a whole.

WC, I believe you are referring to the Paleo diet.

Hucking, i never once suggested that milk was over processed or anything along those lines. Those are your words not mine. And the "food group" you described in post #99 is not a food group..lol. My question was rhetorical.

But to answer your question, my diet and food group consists of one that does NOT include dairy products. Simple as that.

Huck... What about the long-term studies done on high animal fat based diets? Can't be good on the heart man, in the long run

I just read like a month or so ago that they proved saturated fat isn't bad for you. I know fat is not bad for the heart. fat is like oil for your body. keeps it running like a well oiled machine :) people that have heart issues do not eat a lot of fat. they eat a lot of sugar.

Interesting you mention the fat building hormones. This is true but you have to keep in mind there is evidence that suggests that your body only needs a very tiny amount of fat to produce hormones optimally, increasing fat intake won't necessarily produce hormones any better and once those bare minimum fat needs have been met your body can make it on its own I believe.

This issue has been vastly overblown and it only becomes a concern when you are doing an aggressive cut or running a big deficit.

I'm not shunning fat by any means brother, you know I like to use a reasonable amount of fat in my diet and I'm not one of those guys who worries if fat goes too high, it really doesn't make a difference for me IME.

I prefer carbs because its more efficient than investing those calories in protein and I choose it over fat simply out of personal preference and because I get a greater performance advantage this way.

I here what you are saying. I think I only need 200g carbs max to grow. I love high protein and I like my fat :D I think next cycle you should try higher protein ;)

sugar and insulin scratch up the inside of your arteries and cholesterol comes along and mends your arteries, but if your sugar is high for too long for too many years than you get to were the arteries get clogged. fat does not cause any damage to your arteries or veins. if anything it is the opposite, cause fat lubes the blood and softens the arteries. I hope I explained that well :) if you was talking about the Paleo diet than I agree, but it didn't sound like the Paleo diet to me.

Wow I Guess if I listen to my stomach I should scratch milk the fuck off my list ...
But god dammit man I want to BULK

Tile what about adding some extra carbs in, a few hundred calories extra from carbs should be easy to do and put you where you need to be calorie wise.

The beauty of using carbs to meet your goal once everything else has been accounted for is you can eat pretty much anything to hit the calorie goal. I like white rice personally, never been a fan of brown rice.

Well I need to stop assuming I'm eating enough and actually calculate it .
I go over my diet today as best possible :
Am : 5 eggs fried over easy . Cup half oatmeal . Banana 16 oz of milk 1 scoop protien .
Post workout
12 " jimmy john roast beef and ham sub contains the hogie meat tomatoe shredded lettuce and touch of mayo
Lunch : 4oz turkey ground meat loaf , 6oz breast , cup of white beans , 3 oz of steamed broccoli and carrots . 16 oz milk w scoop of protien
Dinner : large spinach salad . 8oz chopped breast . Lots of tomatoes and light ranch . 200 grams Greek yogurt . 16 oz 2% milk .
Snack before bed : cple pieces of cornbread w / honey and a big scoop of peanut butter .

I hit 202 tonight went to bed at 8p now up taking a bomber shit . ... Probably on my decline toward mid 190s
