Daily intermittent fasting

So by sticking my bananas in my protein shake and my peanut butter or even milk instead of water, I am not getting the growth hormone spike benefits that I would get from just having whey with water?

that seems to be the case. there are other studies that show both fat and carbs can inhibit gh release.

Why do all these diets seem to take the joy out of life. No way I can drink whey with water. I buy standard whey, nothing added as I don't like/ trust artificial sweeteners so the banana is a must for flavor.

And eating protein completely on it's own generally is tricky too.

HMMMM, fuck the growth hormone spike.

I am currently day 1 of carb backloading with intermittent fasting. So no carbs so far today and I am absolutely knackered. Don't know how I'm going to be able to have a workout feeling like this. Can't tell whether I'm having an off day or my body is just not used to using my fat for energy.

Will persevere. Does anyone know how long this initial fatigue is supposed to last when leaving all carbs until after my evening workout as my body acclimates?

So you are doing IM and carb depletiion?

If IM is intermittent fasting then yes I am but I'm not depleting carbs, I'm having them all post workout during the evening.
What is your window, what do you eat before, what kind of carbs are you eating? I workout right before my fast ends adn I take BCAA's during m,y workout to get threw it.

9pm - 1pm fast then generally eggs, nuts, coleslaw meat and whey through the day then workout at 6pm followed by a healthy carby meal of some sort then topped that off with a multi ripe bananana whey shake around 8pm ish.

dunno if this is cutting it. Very new to this so dunno. What I do know is I feel like shit and not looking forward to my workout in a minute.

I'm currently about 18-20% body fat and not fat adapted. Never done low/ no carb through the day in my life so I guess my body is just not liking it.

If it were me I would throw a sweet potato in there an hour before workout. Get yourself some raw BCAAs to drink while you workout probably going to need to find something to m ix with it they taste like garbage I use crystal light. IM IMO is the easiest diet for me I do well on it and I can manage it. I think it is going to be difficult for you because of the timing of your workout. YOu need to get some energy the sweet potatoe and bcaa's should do the trick. LOL I just checked your profile you probably hate my Avitar.

Hmmm, I have a hectic life. Cooking 1 sweet potatoe isn't gonna happen. I'll get through.

The avatar - hmmm, let's just say I don't think it has the same "je ne sais quoi" as mine :)

If you have access to a microwave you can have a sweet potato. The thing is unless you can change your work out you will need to add a complex carbohydrate PWO. Plain Greek yogurt fat free???? 30-45 minutes before.

But that defeats the whole purpose of carb back loading surely? The idea is to have all carbs post workout to force fat burning through the day and anabolic growth at the end no?
Anyhow, I'm going to attempt it right now carb free as it's too late to have carbs now as I need to workout right away. I'm not even sure if I should be back loading on HIIT days or just back loading on heavy weight training day... nothing's simple ;-)

Workout was quite difficult but got through it. Can't tell if it was fatigue due to the no carbs or the fact that it's my 4th consequetive day training. I have only got back into it 4 months ago and I'm no longer a spring chicken so it could be either or, or both.

Anyhow, doable. The difficult thing is getting 150+g of carbs in before my fast ends.

Day 2 - had to pull over and buy a coffee and have 1 sugar in it around 3pm cos I was feeling very weird. did the trick. Can't wait for fat adaption to begin as it's tough being motivated to do what I've got to do when I feel mentally and physically lethargic.

heres a study concerning your eating eggs, nuts, coleslaw and meat before your workout and gh response. a high fat meal lowers gh response. ive seen this study cited elsewhere. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8501145
whether or not this applies to bodybuilders age 25-35 who are doing heavy lifting may be in question. but high fat diets increase somatostatin and can lower gh. there was a modest decrease in gh release in a high carb (glucose) meal. so that may be you best bet if you cant bring yourself to train fasted. if you do eat high fat during the day before your workout, you may want to wait about six hours.

really bro. 1 sugar. maybe you should ease into any extreme diet regimen. i don't know what youre eating, when or how often, but maybe start with a low carb diet. from there maybe try skipping breakfast. it does get easier.
