Triceps help

I need some help with the long head. I feel it is under developed so I have been focusing on it more. Overheard extensions, lying French press, close grip bench. 4 sets 6-8 reps each.

I have been hitting them after shoulders. I just don't feel like I'm getting a good enough pump with them.

Any thoughts?

I always feel that i smoke tricep with higher rep range 15 to 20 pumps them full of blood, dont forget to squeeze at the top

Do them first. Prioritize the weakness ;) 6-8 reps is great, but for me if i'm not going to failure at those rep ranges nothing happens.

For the tricep long head i suggest you try tricep extensions, similar to "skull crushers", with the ez curl bar. But instead of bringing the bar down to your forehead, let it swing back past your head to really stretch out the long head. Then raise it straight up. This forces the long head to do *more* work than the other two (lateral/medial). Im sure you'll notice a huge difference in your tricep pumps - i know i do. Its my favorite exercise for triceps other than weighted dips.

Rippetoe often refers to lying tricep extensions, LTE's, as the fourth powerlift lol

Forgot to mention you can perform this exercise like Docd suggests, lying down. Or like i do - i use a bench on a 45* angle and perform the extensions from there. The 45* angle forces your upper arms and triceps to work harder.

Yep, i've right a lot about doing them this way recently. Also, don't forget the power of weighted DIPS!!!

Check out some of ben pak's arm training vids. He has a different way of doing rope press downs that i've implemented and feel it way more than the normal way. Basically says you really need to focus on the STRETCH of the muscle when doing tris.
