pacman vs mayweather?

It would have been a much better fight if Mayweather stood and fought but thats not his style.
He's all about defense and not getting hit AT ALL, which is a brilliant strategy but makes for a boring fight and if you have watched him fight through the years hes had a lot of boring fights.
Manny on the other hand loves to bang it out and if you watched his fights, well you've seen alot of great fights over the years.
So basically if you only have one guy that came to put on a show and one guy that refuses to engage you get what we got!!

Fucking disappointing that for all the money and all the hype Mayweather wasn't willing to put on a show for the fans but instead we get the usual run cover and counter punch.
And GWT no way a mma fighter out boxes a champion boxer in any setting where boxing is all they do. If Evander Holyfield entered the octagon and no wrestling was involved and he hit Cane Valazques with those tiny gloves its all over.

Any middlweights here? Step into the ring with those 6 OZ gloves and the last thing you'll think is fluffy. Specially if your in some one horse town in a smoker in one of the preliminaries. More often than not the gloves you'll have to use were worn by the fighters in the previous bouts. You only hope that yours was first. :(
You end up with a piece of leather wrapped around your fist.

Boxing is great. But its only a small piece of the puzzle;)

A great boxer is mesmerizing. But a puncher can accomplish the same thing just with way less technicality.

Look at a guy like Mark Hunt. Hes not fooling anybody. But he'll knock you in to next year if you stand with him

I just can't believe we couldn't find one American to swing on the undercard
Boxing follows poor neighborhoods. In the early 1900's It was the irish and italians. Then the colored boxers took over as they became the new poor. Now its the mexicans and europeans. Wealthy communities dont box. They go in to other sports. I dont believe we will ever see an american boxer be on top again. Let alone a white boxer. Other than mayweather's obviously.

I will tell you this. With the exception of Jordan and denzel when it came to the$300,000 seating you sure seen all the white folks there

pretty much sums it up!!!

I like boxing because it gives a fighter a chance to knock out multiple appoinents such as in a street fight in the projects where I grew up ...
being on the ground was never where anyone wanted to be unless they wanted boots to their head ...

Everyone around me boxed in the 80s ..
either that basketball or breakdancing

Really what Im saying is a pro boxer could NOT succeed with his skills in the octagon even if the martial artist only boxed.

There is no MMA fighter in the world with the boxing skills needed to box a highly skilled professional boxer. It wouldn't matter if they went bare knuckles - the pro boxer wins that match every time, whether it be in the octagon, the ring, or anywhere else.

Your 100% correct CBS. But in defence of GWT, he did say "that they couldn't hang with each other in their respective sports".

The boxing ring Is the ONLY place a boxer would have a leg up on the martial artist.

I remember when the UFC first hit the scene. All the kung fu and karate guys thought they were the shit. In fact these kick queens have been getting away with the fake macho shit for years until mma proved it doesnt work. Not in reality any ways. Not against a skilled opponent. Same goes for boxing. Those pure boxing skills are most useful in a ring with a referee and a points system in place not against an opponent that is well rounded in 2 or more disciplines. On the street the boxer loses when he takes his first clean body kick or when he gets his appendages torn apart. Its just like bringing a knife to a gun fight:)

Btw i think Tyson was before his time. He would of been a hell of a martial artist. That guy was the last boxer i ever paid attention too. Never liked him tho. Too much of an asshole

My friend...Your so misinformed about a pro-fighter and a street fighter. Every move a street fighter makes is, to the pro, in slow motion. Been there, done that.

Street fighter? I dont like that term. That would be to Insinuate a pro ufc fighter is a street fighter? No but they rule that shit too:)

If you use all of your tool set in a fight to win...None will even compare to a well skilled TOP MMA fighter period....shouldn't even be a debate...

You really just said colored?

That's not what you said. Your original statement is below:

Really what Im saying is a pro boxer could NOT succeed with his skills in the octagon even if the martial artist only boxed.

There's not an MMA fighter alive that can outbox a skilled pro boxer - in the ring or octagon.

I wouldn't put boxing in the same category as kung fu. The early UFCs only proved that fighters without a background in ju jitsu lose to ju jitsu fighters.

Those pure boxing skills are most useful in a ring with a referee and a points system in place not against an opponent that is well rounded in 2 or more disciplines.

I didn't see Sugar Ray Robinson worrying about scoring points in the video. He was looking for KOs - and getting them. He would be every bit as dangerous on the street.
