When to consider the stage ?

Hey guys this is a question I keep asking myself overy and over again. When will I be ready for the stage...if ever? I know that there is alot that goes into competing these days and that it is hard but it is something I would like to try even if it's 1 show to know that I tried and it's not for me. Or i tried and im pretty good. A couple years ago I moved to northern az from north jersey. I was looking for a prep coach up here and there is nothing that comes even close. I wish i was still in jersey they are a dime a dozen. Originally I was looking for one up here to just educate myself to see what I was getting into..but then I realized how can I legitimately prep for a show if there are no coaches around. If I decided to head into a show do I even really need a coach? Another thing that makes me want to try and give this a shot..I was looking at the NPC shows here in arizona ...the competitors don't look so great. I don't know if it's because it's not that big our here in AZ but I was not impressed at all. Iook better than 90% and I'm just going through the motions...none of them were even that big. I do know there is am earlier post about what it takes to get into bodybuildimg..but I just thought I'd start a new one.

Ive never done it (and never will). But Ive had a few friends do it and they say its best to just do it. If not youll keep putting it off. Find a local comp and jump in. Get the experience. Then go from there. Youll see what you need to work on, learn from mistakes, and do better the next time.

This. If you do your diet or not. Keep a notebook of everything. How your body reacts to certain macros and such.

first things first a prep coach is a must have. If you dont have one in your area there are plenty of succesful online coaches

Along with smaller shows come smaller prizes.
~$1000 for prep and all you get is a gold plated brass medal..

Yea because it's not about the trophy you bodybuild and compete because it's what you love to do. Golfing is expensive bass fishing is expensive. Can't put a price on a passion. And my prep coach charges me 300 a contest not that bad

I wasn't starting an argument champ. I was just saying that it may be better to go to a larger comp.

Yea I'm not arguing either. Things don't work that way though. Take it from a guy with some exp. Maybe he could do a qualifier ( some are bigger than others) but you have to qualify for anything on the national stage if that's what you were referring too. The npc doesn't pay anything at shows jntil you go pro. Some award prizes like last year I won an invicta watch and a 6 pack lunch box (along with trophies) but not many do that.
All I was saying no matter how small the show the money isn't an issue when you just wanna compete especially just getting started unless you are a genetic freak.

Oh i thought pretty much all the ifbb, npc and inba payed winners? Like $250 for 1st at least.

No I really don't. I have a lot of gay friends. It's just personally it feels awkward. No disrespect to people who do it tho.

U aren't posing around for a bunch of guys? Look maybe it just isn't for you man it can be hard for some to understand. You are displaying years of training in the gym an months of dieting to be as conditioned as possible for that show date. The level of work you put in is something 99% can't even fathom. Sorry but as a competitor it burns my ass to hear someone refer to my passion as "gay"

I understand man. I really would love to do it. Atleast at the local level. Just don't know where to start looking for shows.

Bro, BB'ing is huge here in AZ. Maybe not northern AZ. We have Metroflex and Independence gym... You just need to move south a little!
