What happened?

So after getting caught up on the board/posts I just have one question. What has happened to the underground section? It used to be a place were I'd come to source check, banter with like minded individuals, and ask for/share information. Now it looks like backpage or craigslist for UGLs. People just posting up all willy nilly, new source this, want some of this, legit HG here, etc., etc.

Did something change around here since I took my hiatus? Not trying to bash the board as I love Meso. I only frequent a few boards but Meso has always been my home. I love the open and honest reviews. No filter bullshit. Yes there are schills and people who have agendas but that shit gets called out or more experienced members can at least read between the lines. I am wondering if it became a numbers game. Did there just become too many for the committed members to drive away? Did Meso intentionally become an ad page for sources? Not sure what is going on but I miss my old Meso.

Rant over, if I offend you it is not my intention. I just remember Meso being different.

SCOC was ditched. No one could really come up with a solution to agree on it seemed. Good lab reviews were accused of being shills, many respected members got tired of saying the same shit to the never ending coming of dumb ass noobs and start up labs. I was in favor of running every source out of this bitch but those of us that wanted that were never really backed by too many. The noobs feed the shitty start ups and so on. I am always questioning why the hell I keep coming here anymore but, I like to give advice where I feel I can help those who ask for it. Just my 2 cents bro.
 
Actually, once you sift though all the crap, there are few "diamonds in the rough" around...OK, that's a bit of a stretch, but there are a few sources here that aren't all that bad (relatively speaking).

Oh I am sure there are. I just don't think Meso is intended to be a source board but rather a place where we can come talk openly about sources without having to worry about your post being deleted. This seems to happen a lot on source boards. Here it use to be like the wild west (which I enjoyed). People spoke freely without having to worry about repercussions (at least on Meso anyways). From what I see over the last year or so of posts is a change happened. I just can't pinpoint what caused it. The sticky about the SCoC possibly causing it may have a point, not sure though. Could be the lack of mods, but mods may lead to censoring and that's not what needs to happen. Could be a lot of things. I was just interested in hearing what others think who have been around and miss the old days.

Thanks for you honest opinion. It may just be the numbers game. It used to seem like there were a ton of regulars that battled to keep the board clean. I only see a few of the handles still really active. I definitely appreciate guys like you not abandoning ship. I love coming here for advice because I always know that no one is going to sugarcoat it for me.

Its good to see you active again. All of us still kicking around are still just here to help dudes out. That is what makes our board so great. Stay up my friend.

You mentioned that the SCoC was ditched but the sticky still is there. Has Millard or whomever is controlling that been notified or is it just the senior members have said fuck it?

Definitely will and you do the same.

I believe Millard will leave it up do to the freedom of choice he allows members to review the information as nothing really gets deleted in the name of being uncensored. It was decided by senior members collectively it sends a message to sources that we welcome sources to come here and source as long as they follow a certain set of requirements. Since we all agree this is not a source board we decided to shy away from it. Certain parts of it are very good and still should be great questions to throw at a source.

Ah I see. Just went back and open the SCoC sticky and read it. I think I am officially up to date, well hopefully. lol

Welcome back, MI. You just caught the underground at a bad time. We actually drove most of the sources off a few months ago but they've been slowly coming back. It goes in cycles.

Like EBK said, there are always noobs that are desperate for a source and these startups love to prey on them. Wherever there are noobs, the bathtub-grade scammers are sure to follow.

I remember when I join I went through "training" from all of you on the normanclatures at Meso and that's when I learned not to be such a dumb noon. Lol Looks like i'll be returning the favor. :)

When I typed this I had just finished going through a years worth of posts and seen the mess that accrued. It looks like it's getting back to normal but like CBS said it's going to be like a pendulum. I'll be around to help keep them pendulum in our favor though. Let's hope we get all of the old crew back active then the fun will really begin. ;)
 
I've been seeing alot of new guys show up that want to turn this into a gtg bro forum and kiss up to these bathtub brewers that have shown up ad nauseum. Very annoying

It seems like noobs are in it for the glory nowadays and not the love of it. It all bro science this zyzz that chest brah huh... they see these YouTube sensations and idolize them so they turn to Google. Well we all know Millard did a great job of seo with Meso so the first thing they see is us. There sense of entitlement drives them to join and not read the rules. They think since it's a forum the idea of respect your elders (can be age or experience) goes out of the window because there's no backlash. And on and on with the bullshit. It be funny to keep new members I'm the new members section like a daycare until they learn the lay of the land. It can't be associated with post count either. I see there have been a lot of post whorls around over the last of the year. I saw one guy who joined in August of 2015 who is well known with 3400 post. Wtf!? Anyways, that's enough rambling.
 
Lol I remember having 300 to 400 posts back when this board was mesomorposis. I joined in 2000~2001 but my join date shows 04. It makes me sad panda most of posts got lost through the Meso transition :(. I Still love this place. It was my home then and it's still my home now. I remember this place having the classifieds, damn showing some grey hairs now lol. Noobs will be afoot everywhere, we just gotta give them a spanking.

@mmmiron you're right, you gotta love it to be a true warrior. The irons gotta run through your blood.
