sterilization for media bottles, bottle top filters

I googled a ton before posting here and there is very little info on the topics below.

So I've been brewing for 5 years. I started with syringe filters but man my fingers use to hurt. I then got a vacuum pump (handheld) and bottle top filters. Some filtering I was good others I could not even get the bottle top filter to hold any vacuum. This only happens when I trying to filter through .22um. I've also had the plastic bottles crack about halfway through a 100ml pull. I never went higher than 7 on the vaccuum so I'm wondering if the gear was too hot

My questions are:

What are the best temps to start the filtering process?

Why can't I get the gear flowing through a .22um bottle top filter?

Should I start using media bottles? If so do you sterilize in the oven?

Thanks in advance. Oh and I'm using grape seed oil if that makes any difference through filtering.

1.It depends on the material of the filter membrane. Warm oil is filtered quickly, the main thing is not to destroy the membrane.
2.perhaps the system is faulty or not enough pressure.If you are sterilized before filtering the solution, you can use the membrane 1.0, process will faster.

Okay I'm leaning to use media bottles but how do you get the sterilized gear from the media bottle to say a 100ml bottle?

Only way I can think is if you have another sterilized beaker that you pore it into. But I really doubt once I sterilize it in the oven By the time I get setup and done filtering the beaker will not be sterilized.

You can but septa covers for media jars to act like rubber stoppers on a vial or just draw out the media jar with a syringe and cover it in between filling vials

Sweet. Just saw them at the site I by my supplies from. That will work awesome. Just remember not to open the cap until all the gear is used.

I only use .22um filters. It takes some pumping at first to build vacuum but once I have it the oil flows great.

It's gotta be the oil your using. Try MCT oil. The GSO depending where you buy it comes in different consistencies from what I can see. If it's too think the 22 filter can't process it.

GSO is a very viscous oil but it shouldn't be an issue wih a .22 filter. My GSO from the grocery store filters fine in a .22

Funny thing is that one bottle I got filtered slow and another quicker. Two different brands

I've used 3 different store bought brands and can't really say I noticed any difference. Maybe it was too slight to notice.

Lol true it's just that I'm only processing about 200 ml then I gotta chuck the filter cause it's clogged. Should be 500 ml
